Category Procurement Manager, Facilities

As the procurement business partner for Facilities Management, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations. You will use your market and supplier expertise to deliver optimal category strategies and lower the total cost of ownership for all 3rd party spend. You will also lead and execute specific procurement projects/initiatives that support Abbott’s wider business objectives. You will demonstrate leadership in a global environment and drive significant cost savings and service level harmonization across the global business that enables growth.

  • Proactively identifies areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.

  • Provides insight to the business unit on how to best develop and leverage Supplier capabilities for the organization(s).

  • Considered an SME across categories.  Strong understanding of "One Procurement" category strategies and work on projects that impact the "One Procurement" team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Support and Executes the negotiation of Facility Management contracts.

  • Develop and manage Regional and Global Facility suppliers .

  • Define category procurement strategy for Abbott- align with overall strategy and be an enabler

  • Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category. Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline

  • Coordinate across corporate, functions, divisions to share best practices and adherence to guidelines.

  • Understands the overall needs of multiple business units and to negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.

  • Measure and track internal performance for Abbott users of Facility Services

  • Advise business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by other healthcare companies.

  • Manage initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.

Relationship Management:

  • Partner with business leaders (Manager, Director) to manage and align the category. Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.

  • Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key category vendors as well as counterparts at other Healthcare/Consumer companies. Manage ongoing Supplier relationships.

  • Develop and implement agreed purchasing strategies for category

  • Initiate a collaborative environment among stakeholders

  • Maintain strong relationships across various functions, demonstrate the value-add of leveraging and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.

  • Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and good customer service

  • Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance and to provide overall value.

  • Manage category projects across business unit, and division wide when and where applicable. Participate in business projects based on category expertise.

Compliance

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.

  • Manufacturing Head of Divisions

  • Regional Procurement category leads

  • Division Purchasing leadership

  • Corporate AQR and EHS organizations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

  • A highly customer focused leader, motivating and driving projects to deliver high standards of service and cost effectiveness

  • More than 8 years’ experience in Facility and Contract management, of which at least 3-5 years in a managerial position

  • Experience of leading a multi-functional team in an environment where asset performance and IFM (Integrated Facility Management) services is a business-critical requirement

  • The role holder will have a well-developed knowledge of maintenance / IFM processes and the application of best practices and the effective deployment of maintenance strategies in technically complex customer environments.

  • Experience of integrated risk management and the methods employed to manage engineering risks, hazards and controls

  • Professional qualification Ideally a Pharmaceutical background particularly around Gxp manufacturing processes BA or equivalent experience required: MBA preferred

  • 5-8 years of Engineering and Operations experience in a management capacity

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Robust people skills that include developing strong relationships and solving problems.

  • Strong use of spreadsheet programs.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Excellent interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills

  • Regional experience working across multiple countries and cultures

  • Stronger experience with Supplier management

  • Ability to develop actionable implementation plans

  • Knowledge of Facility Management category technologies and products.

  • Good negotiating skills

  • Some experience leading teams
