About this job:

As the Senior Manager, Business Product Management (Clinical Systems) at Astellas Pharma Global Development, you will play a pivotal role in M&D Strategy and Operations, aligning functions across M&D organizations. Your focus will be on quality management, process management, and non-drug initiative management, including IT components. You will lead cross-functional collaborations, overseeing the lifecycle of clinical or operational systems from implementation to decommissioning. This role requires a deep understanding of drug development, continuous improvement, and effective collaboration with stakeholders to ensure system effectiveness and compliance.

In this job, you will:

  • Lead as the Business Product Manager, orchestrating cross-functional collaborations to define, maintain, upgrade, integrate, release, and decommission clinical or operational systems.
  • Leverage your profound drug development knowledge to anticipate changes needed in data structure and standards, driving continual improvement activities.
  • Take charge of the user acceptance test process, ensuring meticulous testing of business requirements and mitigating identified risks.
  • Ensure on-time implementation of assigned systems and new releases to end users, collaborating seamlessly with DAT and business functions.
  • Oversee issues escalation for assigned systems through triaging mechanisms, conducting quality reviews, and managing documentation and test strategies for system enhancements.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry, focused on drug development.
  • Demonstrate a track record in the development, deployment, or maintenance of clinical information systems, showcasing expertise in system integration processes.
  • Showcase a demonstrated knowledge of the global drug development process, ensuring effective communication across the organization.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical technology project management, specifically in Software Development Life Cycles.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • People management experience, preferably in a highly matrixed, multicultural global setting.
  • Showcase strong and effective strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and emotional intelligence in influencing without authority.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally, impacting multiple departments and levels of management.


  • Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering or equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires 10% of international travel.
  • This is a permanent, full-time position
  • Candidates must be located within a commu table distance of the office.
  • This position is 100% home/remote based.
