As a Cell Culture Technician within our Internal Logistics and Lab Support Department, your pivotal role involves producing cells and virus stocks to meet stringent company quality standards. Working collaboratively within a team of 7 technicians and reporting to the Groupleader, you will monitor cell lines growth, employ immunological techniques for quality tests, and conduct molecular biological analysis for virus isolation. Your responsibilities include performing cells and virus banking activities, releasing critical reagents, and maintaining sterile laboratory conditions. Your influence extends across the organization, contributing to the implementation of innovative solutions that enhance our capabilities in biomedical research. By ensuring adherence to strict quality and safety standards, your role is integral to the organization's success, growth, and continued leadership in the field.

In summary, the following will be your main objectives:

  • Produce cells and virus stocks according to company quality standards.
  • Monitor cell lines growth, detect changes in cell morphology, and perform quality tests (e.g., mycoplasma) using immunological techniques to ensure the integrity of biological materials.
  • Perform cells and virus banking activities, including isolation and identification of viruses to guarantee the availability of well-characterized biological materials crucial for ongoing and future research endeavors.
  • Release critical reagents and perform serological analysis to detect and recognize viruses through antibody analysis, contributing to the accurate detection and recognition of viruses through detailed antibody analysis
  • Record data according to GDocP standards ensuring the traceability and reliability of experimental data for future reference.
  • Record quality issues using quality management tools (e.g., deviations) and perform molecular biological analysis for virus isolation and identification through standard (partly automated) analysis of the genomic structure.
  • Work according to company safety rules and perform authorization of results, checking the analysis process in case of inconsistent or contradictory results. Discuss results with the supervisor for clarification.
  • Maintain quality by performing all analyses conforming to quality and safety rules described in SOPs ensuring the reliability and accuracy of experimental outcomes.
  • Control the workplace by ensuring effective setup of laboratory equipment, maintaining quality awareness, and ensuring sterility when necessary. Take care of maintained and calibrated equipment for optimal performance.

Job requirements

What you will bring

  • Possess a strong educational background (e.g., HBO level) in clinical microbiology or related fields to elevate your expertise.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, contributing to our commitment to innovation and excellence in biomedical research
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital administration systems for efficient workflow and data management.
  • Familiarity with the organizational structure of the company, ensuring seamless integration into the work environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to enhance a cooperative working environment and facilitate effective communication with colleagues.
  • Ability to register and report experiment results both verbally and in writing, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Knowledge and adherence to Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) guidelines to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Efficiency, honesty, attention to detail, composure under pressure, high standards, and a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Proficient in English for effective global collaboration.
