Genmab zoekt een

Intern, Discovery Data Science

Utrecht, Netherlands

At Genmab, we’re committed to building extra[not]ordinary futures together, by developing antibody products and pioneering, knock-your-socks-off therapies that change the lives of patients and the future of cancer treatment and serious diseases. From our people who are caring, candid, and impact-driven to our business, which is innovative and rooted in science, we believe that being proudly unique, determined to be our best, and authentic is essential to fulfilling our purpose.

Role

We are excited to announce an opening for a data science internship within one of our Discovery teams! This internship project will evolve around in-depth analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing data sets to guide new antibody product discovery.

The analysis of millions of individual cells across hundreds of patients has advanced our understanding of complex and heterogeneous diseases such as chronic inflammatory disease. In recent years, novel single-cell sequencing assays have been developed that enable full-length transcript sequencing, and novel analysis methods are developed for the integrated analysis of large data sets. This allows for better identification of specific cell (sub)types and for assessment of gene expression in patients.

With this project you embark on an exploratory journey to investigate how the novel single-cell assays and methods can be used to drive the discovery of antibody therapeutics that treat chronic inflammatory disease. Depending on your interest and background, we will focus the project more on assays versus methods or a specific disease. As a Data Science intern in this project, you will join the Discovery Data Science team and closely collaborate with the Product Discovery team that focuses on chronic inflammatory disease.

Responsibilities

  • You will be trained in performing advanced integrative single-cell data analysis with a focus on developing novel therapeutic approaches.
  • You will perform advanced data analysis of (public and internal) single-cell sequencing datasets from novel single-cell sequencing methods.
  • You will translate findings into insights that can guide the process of antibody product discovery.
  • Effectively communicate findings through reports and presentations.

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Looking for an internship for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Experience with Python or R programming and a keen interest in medical biology, genomics, and/or immunology.
  • Experience with single cell RNA-seq or other omics data analysis is required.
  • You have a proactive, enthusiastic, and goal-oriented mindset and want to learn more about single-cell data analysis and antibody drug discovery.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, and the ability to work with diverse scientists and stakeholders.
