Senior Patent Administrator

The Role

As Genmab's IPR department continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Patent Administrator to be a part of our Intellectual Property Rights department at our office in Utrecht (NL).

Within this role you will work in close collaboration with the rest of the IPR Department handling all patent-related administrative tasks for Genmab's patent portfolio.


  • Docketing including updating our due date database.

  • Handle formalities associated with patent filings, correspondence with the EPO and PCT, 30 months continuations, EP validations, SPC/PTE filings, assignments, IDS, annuities etc.

  • Communication with foreign patent law firms.

  • Archiving documents.

  • Assist with invoicing and preparation of budgets.

  • Proof-reading patent claims and responses for the patent authorities.

  • Assist and perform searches in various databased.

  • Perform different ad-hoc tasks relevant to the IPR department.


  • You have a relevant educational background, e.g., a BA in Business Language, MSc in Library Science, a BA in Language or Arts or librarian.

  • Please note we accept candidates from a broad range of backgrounds with the right experience.

  • You have at least 3-5 years of experience as a Patent Administrator.

  • You preferably have the title of QIPA or have started the certification.

  • An excellent understanding of the procedures and formalities related to patent work.

  • You are structured and good at organizing. With your quality mindset, you can prioritize your work and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • You enjoy building professional collaborative relationships.

  • You enjoy routine tasks and work with a persistent energy.

  • You are a result- and goal-oriented individual who is committed to contributing to the overall success of Genmab.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Please note that if you are applying for a position in the Netherlands, Genmab’s policy for all permanently budgeted hires in NL is initially to offer a fixed-term employment contract for a year, if the employee performs well and if the business conditions do not change, renewal for an indefinite term may be considered after the fixed-term employment contract.
