The role
As Senior Research Associate Target Discovery you will be part of the Discovery department working in the Target Discovery team. Target Discovery works to find, validate, and understand new antibody drug targets. As a Senior Research Associate, you will use state-of-the art technology, set up innovative new systems and generate data to find these new targets. You will be at the foundation of the development of new drugs that address high unmet need diseases. In addition to the Target Discovery team, you will work closely with other research teams, (antibody) technology teams and data science teams in a highly multidisciplinary way.
Responsibilities

You will work in a team of scientists and research associates dedicated to target discovery and validations.

You will perform various types of functional assays using tumor cells and primary cells to identify and validate targets.

Using your up-to-date knowledge of and experience with assays used in cell biology, oncology, and immunology, you are responsible for the set-up and accurate execution of a broad set of in vitro assays, target screens and target validation experiments.

You take initiative, set high-quality standards, and keep an eye on ways to improve your work.

You document and process the test results, draw conclusions, and report these to the team.

You are able to understand the fundamental concepts behind the assays and will contribute to setting-up new, innovative assays, in close collaboration with a scientist.
Requirements

You have a completed HLO (BSc) or MSc degree in Life Sciences.

You have minimum 3 years of work experience in the field of oncology and/or immunology.

You have an affinity with technology, and you enjoy starting new projects.

You have extensive experience with flow cytometry (FACS), culturing of adherent and primary cells, and various functional cellular assays (viability, co-culture, etc.). Experience in 3D cell culture would be advantageous.

You have hands-on experience with cell and molecular biology techniques like lentiviral particle generation and transductions, western blotting, ELISA, CRISPR. You are comfortable with medium-high throughput techniques.

You recognize the importance of working according to a quality system, which includes adhering to procedures and detailed documentation of your work.

Experience with electronic laboratory notebook reporting is an advantage.

You are flexible and capable of running several projects parallel to each other, adjusting priorities appropriately together with the team.

You love to work in the lab and face experiments with a problem-solving attitude and inspire others with your ‘getting things done’ mentality.

You are enthusiastic, goal-oriented, efficient, and accurate and you enjoy working in a team and as a team.
