The role

Genmab is seeking a Senior Scientist to join our dynamic Target Discovery team focusing on Immunity and Inflammation as well as immune oncology projects. This position will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between target discovery and product development, ensuring a seamless transition of projects into the drug development pipeline.

As Senior Scientist in Target Discovery you will be part of the Discovery department working in the Target Discovery team. Target Discovery works to find, validate, and understand new antibody drug targets. You will contribute to multidisciplinary new target discovery projects and develop state-of-the art technology.  As a Sr. Scientist Target Discovery you work closely with other Discovery teams, such as antibody engineering, data science and high-throughput screening to identify and validate antibody targets that are suited for Genmab’s proprietary antibody formats.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to target discovery efforts with a focus in the area of immunology and inflammation (I&I), occasionally branching to immune-oncology projects.

  • Collaborate closely with the I&I Product Development team to align the target discovery and product development strategies.

  • Work closely together with other Genmab teams, including data science, reverse translation, high-throughput screening, and others.

  • Manage and mentor research associates in the lab.

  • Develop cellular screening assays in primary cells and other model systems, generate complex genomic and high-throughput data.

  • Manage and execute research agreements with external collaborators.

  • You record scientific results in the appropriate manner. You will actively contribute to scientific publications and presentations, and you will support patent applications, and the documentation critical to enter the next stages of product development.

  • You are part of a group of strong scientists and research associates with state-of-the-art knowledge of the antibody and chronic inflammation field.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in immunology/chronic inflammation or related field, with 3+ post-graduate years of immunology-focused research, previous experience in drug target discovery highly valued.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry research experience is considered beneficial but not fully critical.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience working within a collaborative, matrixed team. You have an affinity with data and data analysis.

  • A strong publication record demonstrating relevant experience in drug development, translational research, biomarkers and/or clinical trials.

  • Strong communication skills ability to communicate with people from diverse scientific and cultural backgrounds.

  • A ‘getting things done’ mentality, pro-active, enthusiastic and goal orientated.

  • Must be capable of working in global project teams.

  • You have excellent verbal and written skills in English.
