Intern - Biology, Life Sciences - BTS 3R
Job Description
Are you looking for an internship where you are free to take initiative? Would you like to experience working in one of the biggest multinationals in the pharmaceutical industry? We are looking for a fourth-year bachelor or master student in the field of Biology/Applied Life Science who is searching for a challenging internship in our innovative company?
Your internship project
Before a new batch of vaccine can be sold the quality of the batch has to be confirmed by different QC tests. A test which confirms that the concentration and quality of antigen(s) is sufficient is a very important test. Currently, this is often done by vaccination of animals whereafter the induction of an immune response is investigated. The 3R team within our company works on the replacement of animal tests by in vitro potency tests in which the concentration and quality of antigens is investigated by alternative tests such as immunoassays. As an intern you are responsible for the development of immunoassays to quantify antigens such as ELISA, AlphaLISA or Luminex.
Your responsibilities:
-
Selection and characterization of suitable monoclonal antibodies (e.g. western blotting, neutralization assays)
-
Development of immunoassays
-
Pre-validation of assays to demonstrate that the test is specific and that the measured concentration is reliable and independent on the presence of other vaccine components.
The above-mentioned responsibilities are an indication of what you will be doing after proper onboarding and initial learning and development. This provides you with the opportunity to learn and hereafter perform tasks independently. In consultation with your supervisor, you could take on additional tasks and responsibilities.

-
A fourth-year bachelor or master student Biology/Applied Life Science (or equivalent)
-
