We are looking for at least a fourth-year Bachelor student in the field of Life Sciences who is searching for a challenging internship in our innovative company?

Your internship project
The Ruminants R&D team is looking for an enthusiastic intern to contribute to the development of technologies to create specific colostrum to keep young calves healthy in the early days of life. Normal colostrum contains high levels of maternally derived antibodies (MDAs) which could interfere with vaccination and challenge procedures. To improve animal welfare, colostrum without specific (selected) MDAs is needed.

Your responsibilities

• A literature review about the composition of colostrum and its functional components.

• Propose technologies to create colostrum / feeding for newborn calves having low specific antibody levels.

• Set up assays for the depletion of selected antibodies from colostrum.

• Set up immunological assays to gain better understanding of the immunological response after vaccination.

• Providing a fresh perspective within the department: your opinion matters.

The above-mentioned responsibilities are an indication of what you will be doing after proper onboarding and initial learning and development. This provides you with the opportunity to learn and hereafter perform tasks independently. In consultation with your supervisor, you could take on additional tasks and responsibilities.

Who are you?

• A fourth-year Bachelor student in the field of Life Sciences.

• You are familiar with general laboratory techniques.

• You are enthusiastic about immunology.

• You are searching for an internship where you have the freedom to take initiative.

• You are fluent in Dutch/English.

• You are available for a period of 6-9 months for 5 days a week.
