We are looking for a skilled and tactful people manager with self-reflection, who excels in cross functional stakeholder management to drive exceptional results. You are looking for an opportunity to play an important role in taking (Animal Research) Operations in a complex organization to the next level in terms of team-, process- and output development.

Welcome in our team

Our Animal Research Department (~56 FTE) is responsible for the execution of animal studies at the Boxmeer site for Research & Development (R&D) and Quality Control (QC) according the 3R principles (Replace, Reduce, Refine). As a result of a strategic departmental restructuring, 4 new Animal Research Operations (ARO) teams have been created. These 4 teams are responsible for the preparation, execution, and completion of animal studies, including administrative tasks, compliancy and facility- and system management.

Purpose of the role

Depending on your background and ambition, you are responsible for managing one of the newly created ARO teams (teams vary between 7 and 13 animal technicians). Your primary focus is on managing and developing the team at both the individual and team levels. You are responsible for the daily operations, including buildings, assets and systems. You collaborate closely with the other three ARO Managers to initiate and drive continuous improvements in internal processes, innovations and new technologies. Your ultimate goals are enhancing internal customer satisfaction and elevating the quality of our output. This role reports into the Animal Research Operations Lead and requires close collaboration with a variety of internal stakeholders (Research & Development, Site Engineering, Facility Management, Quality (Control), Environment, Health & Safety and a veterinarian who is accountable for the scientific and veterinary quality of the operations).

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biosciences or relevant Science subject;
  • Experience with functionally or hierarchically managing a team in a relevant organization;
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an active approach to learning new concepts, applying them in practice, and training others;
  • Excellent command of the English and Dutch language;
  • Living close to Boxmeer.
