We need a colleague that can help us to maintain good relationships with our (indirect) suppliers, to make sure they are delivering on what we agreed upon (requirements). Suppliers are active in the field of HR/Recruitment, logistics/transportation, IT, Energy, and others that support our global operations.

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Specialist preferably for our site in Haarlem NL or our other sites in the Netherlands . You can also be living in Germany, Swiss or Ireland in the vicinity of our sites in the specific region, because we are working hybrid (at least 2-3 days in office).

The team is working with indirect suppliers and is divided in to two groups. One group (development) is responsible to onboard potentially new suppliers and negotiate/discuss the requirements with them. This group consists of 3 people. The other group (performance) is responsible for our existing suppliers. To make sure that they keep delivering within the agreed requirements we have set and has 4 persons active. They all report into the Director Supplier Development & Performance.

The Supplier Development & Performance Management (SD&PM) team ensures delivery of reliable, compliant goods and services from suppliers to enable an uninterrupted supply of our Company services and products to our patients.  As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will apply world class problem-solving skills through direct engagement with suppliers to resolve issues rapidly and irreversibly across our global supply network.

The role:

You will be partnering with colleagues in Global Procurement and key stakeholder groups, you will identify and implement solutions to chronic performance issues across a range of service groups that support our Human Health, Animal Health, and Corporate Services functions.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal, inclusion, and communication skills combined with a proven track record of conducting investigations and applying data analytics to complex problems. It is vital that the candidate can creatively apply project management skills and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset across a wide range of functional areas including but not limited to marketing services, integrated logistics, corporate and site services, information technology and travel/meetings management.


  • Lead supplier investigations to address disruptions, upskill suppliers for Quality, Compliance and business performance improvements while interfacing with our Company and stakeholder community.

  • Drive improvements in supplier performance while collaborating with Global / Regional Procurement, Centers of Excellence (COEs), and Site Operation teams.

  • Utilize enhanced problem-solving skills to determine true root cause and development of irreversible corrective actions.

  • Facilitate overall Quality improvements to proactively prevent supplier issues.

  • Develop metrics and scorecards to monitor supplier operational performance.

  • Coordinate, communicate and oversee general and technical matters pertaining to suppliers.

  • Participate in periodic business review meetings with suppliers.

  • Maintain flexibility to travel, up to 50%, within the region, country and internationally to supplier/stakeholder locations.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science or Business.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality, Technical, Manufacturing or Business Operations.

  • Experience conducting investigations and applying data analytics to solve problems.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in dynamic environments with potentially conflicting priorities.

  • Demonstrated success working independently with all levels of the organization to get results, while fostering collaboration and maintaining a customer-focused mindset

  • Appreciates and respects diversity of thought and inclusion.

Additional experience and skills (preferred):

  • Knowledge of cGxPs and pharmaceutical / life science operations

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent demonstrated process improvement experience.

  • Ability to develop and/or improve commercial relationships in a professional manner.

  • Functional knowledge in key areas of operation including:

  • Companion Diagnostics / Biomarkers

  • Site Services / Facilities management

  • Patient Support Programs

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Thermal Protection Systems

  • Warehouse, Distribution and Transportation

  • IT services

  • Marketing Services
