As an Electrical Architect you will join a hardworking multi-disciplinary team of 30+ people. In this role, you will be owning the development of electronic systems and components throughout the product life cycle from new product development, factory introduction to solving and improving of existing products. Working together with other competencies such as optics, mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, service, sourcing, you will typically run 2 to 3 projects or activities in parallel and the decisions you make directly have business impact. You will report directly to the R&D manager of the Desktop SEM team

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Translate high level requirements into electrical concepts and designs in close collaboration with the other domain architects, senior designers, design partners and suppliers.
  • Own the electronic design activities within the R&D group.
  • Define specifications of electrical subsystems for successful design, engineering, verification and acceptance while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers during preparation and execution processes.
  • Testing prototype versions of electronic components, subsystems and systems. Collaborate with system, mechanical and software engineers to ensure that electronics and control functions fulfill product requirements.
  • Initiate and guide technical investigations and improvement activities.
  • Support the multi-disciplinary engineering budgeting process by providing budgetary analysis and recommendations for projected systems development/design, improvements/upgrades and competence needs.
  • Effectively manage project stakeholders, ensure that the multi-discipline team is aligned and understands the flow of the EE activities, remove obstacles, mentor juniors, and conduct appropriate project meetings to ensure activities are progressing according to plan.
  • Implement review processes and set clear expectations around the key results of the project.
  • Align with our local and global development and operations partners.

You combine a strong analytical view with a pragmatic approach and can flex yourself in a dynamic product development environment. You are value oriented and able to set and act according to priorities at the same time. It is important to be able to see the big picture as well as having a keen ability to pay attention to details.

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Typically requires a University Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of work experience in a R&D environment, preferably in a high-tech sector.
  • Proven track record in leading high-tech engineering projects through a defined project management process. Architecting experience within high-tech R&D environment is a plus.
  • Ability to build consensus among internal and external project collaborators.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required due to the multi-functional nature of this role.
  • Proficient in English language (verbal and in writing), preferably speaking Dutch.
  • Affinity with Electron Microscopy, system, software, optics and mechanics engineering.
