The Life Science Business Unit within Thermo Fisher MSD provides high-value workflow solutions for biological 3D imaging, ranging from atomic resolution imaging of protein complexes to volume acquisition of cellular compartment structures. Protein 3D structure determination using Cryo-Electron Microscopy Single Particle Analysis (Cryo-EM SPA) is a rapidly growing field, as it pushes the boundaries in the understanding of disease mechanisms, novel therapeutics, and life itself.

Location: Brno, Czech Republic or Eindhoven, The Netherlands

To support the growth of electron microscopy, the Life Sciences Business Unit is adding a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) responsible for entry-level TEM’s, defining our segment strategy, workflow/product requirements, and accelerating adoption into adjacent markets

You will engage in cross-functional collaboration to ensure team members are aligned to customer requirements and the results needed to drive value for our customers and business; work closely with customers and other internal Thermo Fisher partners, such as business development, sales development, marketing, finance, and R&D, conceptualize and launch new solutions.

Key Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Assess needs of customers and markets, develop business plans to create solutions that will gain market share in new market areas. Monitor business performance (incl. bookings, margin, and market position), identify issues and drive improvement actions together with the business development and outbound marketing teams.  You will predominately support the Tundra 100kV Cryo-Transmission Electron microscope.  Secondarily will support the L120C TEM.
  • Collect Voice of Customer input through direct communication with customers, account managers, sales development teams, and applications engineers to define areas where cryo-EM workflows can deliver outstanding value to academic customers.
  • Build customer value propositions and conceptualize new business models. Validate these propositions with key customers.
  • Build Market Requirements Documents (MRD) that are used by R+D to develop future products and a strong roadmap.
  • Partner with our marketing teams to develop and deliver highly tailored go-to-market collaterals such as presentations, demonstrations, datasheets, white papers, customer testimonials, web pages, and studies that highlight the value proposition of our end-to-end workflow solutions to new and existing market segments. Review key indicators to ensure achievement of the marketing plan and effective product launches. Build and deliver training for sales partners and a diverse set of internal team members.
  • Develop and drive the overall strategy for adoption into adjacent markets: the global go-to-market strategy, outbound marketing strategy, specific regionalized go-to-market plans.
  • Establish relationships with key opinion leaders and work to develop them into reference customers to help sales in a region or globally.
  • Build performance indicators and benchmarks to correlate advancements in this space to customer outcomes.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and develop adaptable positioning.
  • You will conduct market intelligence on the academic TEM segment, analyzing trends and build a comprehensive overview of the present and future state of the segment.

Requirements:

This position is ideal for a candidate who has made a successful transition to business management and introducing (new) solutions to the market. The successful candidate is an experienced professional who thrives in a diverse team that, can drive market development, and enjoys being exposed to a constant variety of sophisticated issues that need to be resolved.

Competencies:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant Life Sciences field
  • Experience in strategic Product Marketing & Business Development
  • Experience with the end-to-end Cryo-EM workflow in either an academic or pharma.
  • Proven track record to build strong networks with customers and/or collaborators
  • Strong interpersonal skills both written and verbal that resonate with diverse audiences are needed for the success of this position
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills
  • Proven track record to work with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally (up to 30%)
