About the job
Transmission electronic microscopes (TEM) are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are used today. Software is critical into exploiting all the potential of these microscopes, pushing the limits of current physical technologies. These tools and our software applications are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences and semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our life in many aspects. Your contribution through software might actually help developing better vaccines, new lighter and stronger materials, or more efficient semiconductors.
Get more insight in our High-Tech Transmission Electron Microscope workflow domains through below links. These sophisticated tools are being developed, market and manufactured in our cleanrooms in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where this role is also positioned.

As SW Architect you will support the Software Development for the Material Science business.
Material Science TEM microscopy brings immense value to customers by enabling them to study the structure, composition, and properties of materials at the atomic level. This information is essential for developing new materials and improving existing ones, leading to innovations in various fields, including nanotechnology and battery research.
With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. In addition our systems are getting more and more integrated into the workflows of our customers. This requires thorough understanding of our customers’ needs and higher level of integration with other systems. We work with selected collaborating partners and together we are targeting to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products.
Our team members are very proud of their contributions to provide solutions for our customers that enable them to make our world cleaner, healthier and safer.
How you will make an impact?
We are seeking a dedicated SW Architect who is passionate to bring both SW architecture and customer experience to a next level. Both knowledge and communication will be key since you will need to grasp the domain knowledge holders, SW technology opportunities, and the existing SW architecture/design. You will be in the position to bridge all of these worlds by defining sound SW architecture that fulfills near & future needs. You will work together with different stakeholders: ART architect, System architect, Service/Factory, and Development teams.
As a SW architect you will develop & maintain an architectural vision for a product or line of products, gather requirements (functional & non-functional), describe the high-level design, analyze technical trade-offs, determine the primary components, identify the interfaces and collaborations between them. Also you actively look for ways to reduce/remove technical debt.
Since you will be working in a SAFe ART, you are responsible - together with the Product Owner - that the Development teams will get the right input before each Program Increment. Together with the technical leads of the Development teams and together with the ART architect you will also identify Enablers that are required to further pave the Architectural Runway or improve business execution (like CI/CD or developer metrics or removing technical debt).
If you are passionate about working in this role and environment, we encourage you to apply for this great opportunity as SW Architect.
This will get you get there:
- Knowing architecture models/views, architecture patterns, and using effective tools to communicate/explain architecture.
