We are looking for a Field Medical Strategy &Patient Engagement Lead Epilepsy for the ABN region who has a passion for creating impact for patients, and inspire and lead a team of MSL’s, to come and join our fantastic ABN Medical Affairs Team - the role can be based in either of the countries in ABN Area (Alps, Benelux, Nordics).

About the role

As the Field Medical Strategy & Patient Engagement Lead Epi you are responsible for managing and leading the Medical Science Liaison Teams for consistency & excellence of MSL capability, consistency & excellence of MSLs plans across the ecosystems & and area/countries. You provide executive medical presence, leadership, coaching and accountability to drive individual and team results. Together with the MSLs drive OL Advocacy in the geographic area of responsibility.

You are responsible for the medical strategy, providing senior medical leadership to internal stakeholders and engaging externally with relevant key stakeholders to deliver the value story, scientific exchange and to seize & drive key initiatives, on the therapeutic area (TA) strategy and medical & scientific subject matter expertise for epilepsy, in alignment with the PVU strategy set at Global and regional level, enabling successful execution of the medical components of the local patient value brand plans (PVBP).

And further more you responsible for Patient Engagement, in which you engage and partner with Patient Advocacy groups to identify patients’ needs and opportunity to create value. Adapt global/EU direct to patient strategy and solutions to the needs and opportunities within the local ecosystems. Ensure identification, development, and execution of solutions direct to patients and caregivers.

Who you will work with:

In this role you will work closely with the MSL team to mentor and develop them and ensure expert scientific knowledge. Drives scientific engagement with selected relevant external stakeholders. You work closely with the regional/ global medical teams to contribute to maintaining a high standard of scientific knowledge. And work with cross-functional team/ unit, Market Access and External Engagement to ensure the successful integration of critical medically focused deliverables for existing products and launches of new products. You report directly to the Epilepsy & Operations Head ABN.

What you will do:

  • MSLs leadership responsibilities and contribution to the regional & Global Medical capability development (across medical affairs community).

  • Contribute to the EU Medical strategy development as member of the EU Medical Forum. Ensure aligned strategic implementation within ABN

  • Provide medical input into overall ABN Epilepsy strategic and tactical plans (patient value brand plans (PVBP))

  • Scientific and medical subject matter expertise ensuring high level of scientific & TA acumen across the organization

  • Drive scientific engagement with selected relevant key external stakeholders

  • Ensure that ethical business practices are followed in medical work being up to date with all trainings, integrate the Code of Conduct in day-to-day work and support internal audit

I nterested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • Education, MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc

  • 5+ years of demonstrated Medical affairs/ leadership experience or/and 3+ years effectively managing a field medical team. Relevant therapeutic area experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated strength in strategic medical planning, tactical plan development and implementation

  • Effective communication, presentation and engagement skills including mastery of English language

  • Willingness to travel on regular basis

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing, developing, coaching and influencing teams in matrix environment

  • Demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

  • Scientific Acumen and ability to translate scientific and clinical data into value proposition for the different stakeholders

  • Business Acumen and Focus on delivering customer value and impact

  • Medical governance and compliance skills
