Abbott Weesp is a key site within Abbott’s Established Pharmaceuticals Division (EPD), featuring state-of-the-art production facilities and hosting several global EPD departments. At this advanced site, skilled professionals are engaged in the daily production of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in products such as laxatives, hormones, and influenza vaccines.
About the Quality Systems Department
The Quality Systems department is an integral part of our Quality organization, with team members located at both EPD sites in the Netherlands: Weesp and Olst. Employees across both locations collaborate closely to ensure consistent quality standards. At the Weesp site, the Quality Systems team works in close partnership with the on-site chemical and biological production units.
Our Mission
The Quality Systems department is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations. The department plays a critical role in establishing and continuously improving quality systems to safeguard the integrity and excellence of our products.
About the Role
As a Senior Quality System Specialist , you will be the highest-level expert within the Quality Systems team. You will take ownership of selected quality systems, lead implementation projects, and act as a mentor to your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as system owner for selected quality systems, including defining procedures and ensuring effective implementation.
- Lead and participate in both small and large-scale improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations (e.g. GMP, HALAL).
- Provide expert guidance on quality principles and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain structure and support routine tasks to ensure system integrity.
- Manage stakeholders across local and global teams.
- Support audit readiness and follow-up activities.
- Develop and deliver training within your area of expertise.
Qualifications
- Minimum HBO-level education (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Pharmacy, Quality, Technical Discipline or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a quality function.
- Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in performance optimization and data visualization.
- Fluent in English and able to communicate professionally in Dutch
