Glasshouse Employee Trials

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the R&D crop science team as a pollinator , in Bergschenhoek . This role will manage the pollination and nursery tasks for the different trials in Bergschenhoek. You need to be able to work with focus and concentration. A lot of different numbers will pass and those must all be handled in precise and accurate way. These tasks also require a delicate motoric system

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Emasculation / pollination of different crops
  • Sampling
  • Counting and weighing of seeds
  • Sowing, transplanting and marker picking
  • Harvesting
  • Cropwork
  • Extraction of fruits
  • Seed handling
  • Administration

WHO YOU ARE

  • MBO/HBO degree
  • Must be able to function as a team member.
  • Meet the HSE and phytosanitary protocol while performing your work. Be an ambassador for HSE and phytosanitary regulations towards other employees
  • You can communicate in a constructive way to colleagues in Dutch or English
  • Ensures a successful continuation of the daily activities in the diverse programs during supervisors’ absence
  • Open to work on Saturday
  • Data recording and registration
  • Basic computer skills
  • You can use tools and equipment in a responsible manner and are responsible for the house keeping of the location.
  • Ability to look further than own department (flexible/proactive/open for change)
  • Able to plan/signal and perform labor independently, able to give input to the manager for the labor planning
  • Ability to train and lead a group of temp workers/GH workers and ensures qualitative output by checking and steering
  • You signal climate and crop deviations/diseases/insects actively and communicates to manager.
