Senior Automation Specialist
Job description
As a Senior Automation Specialist, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions to streamline laboratory processes and improve efficiency.
Within the context of Transition Team activities, you will develop automation solutions for high throughput liquid handling in sample testing, organize validation of automation equipment and provides guidance on regulatory affairs for automation of assays performed.
Your objectives and responsibilities:
- Develop automation systems and demonstrate equivalence of results across systems
- Project Management of automation projects, including planning of resources and budget, setting timelines and setting accountability of stakeholders for each deliverable
- Training of personal on key factors for successful development and implementation of automation solutions
- Proposal for acquisition of (new) equipment that is demonstrably better, more efficient and faster in achieving results
- Technical discussions with providers of automation systems
- Guidance for future investments in automation, with presentation of business cases to higher management
Computerized system validation
- Process owner for implementation of complex automation equipment
- System owner of automation equipment, responsible for validation of the system(s) and release for use
- Responsible that all validation deliverables are finished on time
- Identifying and troubleshooting equipment and software issue
Lab-related activities
- With good understanding of the assays performed and equipment used at Cerba Research Netherlands, you................
- Develop automation of plate-based assays (96- and 384-well format) and know-how of enclosed systems to be used in BSL-2/-3 environment
- Support digital transformation of lab procedures
Software
- Swiftly adopt new software packages that are associated with new systems
- Implement automation equipment, and set up instrument interfaces and data capture pipelines with the use of programming languages
- Management of data flow (21 CFR part 11 compliant) from experiment design to analysis and reporting
- Development of workflows to support automation of data analysis
- Statistical analysis
Quality
- Applying quality guidelines in line with ISO17025, GLP, GCLP and GCP methodologies and IVDR compliance
- Carrying responsibility over the quality of data, storage of data (Good Documentation Practice) and supplying the data before due

Job requirements
Your qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in either virology, immunology, engineering, robotics or data science (alternatively hands-on experience in one or two of the aforementioned areas)
- Built up expertise out of working in a similar position, involving the implementation of laboratory automation systems
- Experience in leading and training technical automation teams
- Problem solving mindset to embrace arising automation challenges and to provide new solutions
- Project management skills with clear and concise communication on progress of activities
- Strong communication skills to guide intra and inter-departmental efforts during implementation of new systems, and for technical discussions with providers of automation solutions
- Strong verbal and written command of English at an advanced level
- Good planning skills and ability to delegate whenever needed
- Knowledge of digital administration systems
- Experience in the field of GLP, GCLP, GAMP and ISO17025 (a must)
