The Role

As our new Research Associate, you will join the Antibody Discovery & Lead Optimization (ADLO) department, where you will contribute to one of Genmab's key antibody discovery platforms: the Accelerated Binder Identification process.

Working with advanced display technologies, you will support the discovery of novel antibodies against new therapeutic targets using our automated Ribosome Display platform. In this hands-on laboratory role, you will combine your expertise in molecular biology with laboratory automation to generate high-quality experimental data while contributing to the continuous improvement of established workflows.

You will become part of a collaborative team that values scientific curiosity, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Please note that this is a temporary 9-month opportunity covering a colleague’s leave of absence. Because this role provides temporary support to an experienced team, we are looking for someone who can quickly become operational and contribute directly to ongoing research activities. Your work will help accelerate the discovery of next-generation antibody therapeutics for patients with unmet medical needs!

Responsibilities

As Research Associate, you will:

• Independently execute, analyse, interpret, and document experiments within assigned research activities.
• Perform laboratory activities related to the Accelerated Binder Identification process using automated Ribosome Display technologies.
• Execute Tecan-based workflows and contribute to process improvements that enhance robustness, efficiency, and data quality.
• Generate high-quality experimental data and communicate observations, challenges, and proposed improvements to the team.
• Contribute to the optimisation and standardisation of laboratory processes and automated workflows.
• Present experimental results and scientific conclusions during team and departmental meetings.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of experimental work using the electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).
• Collaborate with colleagues to support business continuity and, where appropriate, broaden your knowledge through cross-training on additional laboratory workflows.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you are a hands-on molecular biologist who enjoys laboratory work, works accurately, and thrives in a collaborative research environment. You communicate openly, take ownership of your work, and enjoy contributing to high-quality scientific research.

You also bring:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific discipline.
• Strong practical experience with molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA handling, RT-PCR, PCR, and NGS library preparation (preferably Illumina).
• Experience working in a research laboratory with a strong focus on experimental quality, documentation, and reproducibility.
• The ability to independently execute experiments, interpret results, and communicate scientific findings clearly.
• A proactive mindset with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.

The following experience is considered an advantage:

• Hands-on experience with display-based antibody discovery technologies such as Ribosome Display, Phage Display, or Yeast Display.
• Experience with laboratory automation, particularly Tecan liquid handling systems.
• Experience with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).

The proposed gross annual base salary range for this position, in the primary location, based on a full time schedule is:

EUR38.000,00---57.000,00


The final salary offer will depend on several factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as discretionary bonuses and long-term incentives.
