Job Description:

At Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, we are seeking an EMEA Events Excellence Lead for our EMEA Strategy & Operations Organisation (ESO).

In this role you will manage a team of individual contributors and are accountable for conducting effective performance management. Responsible for shaping operational excellence and flawless execution in events end-to-end management.

You will develop tactical and operational plans for implementing Therapy Area customer events strategies and activities for health care professionals and health care organizations that accelerate continuous medical education, continuous professional development, product and procedural understanding, enable safe and efficacious use of products, and enhance the organization's overall image.

You will collaborate and align priorities with multiple departments to ensure team delivers customized customer experiences that meet broader business objectives and comply with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.

You will shape innovation, enhance team performance, and cultivate strong relationships across departments and with internal functions such as compliance, finance, procurement as well as external partners including agencies and health care professionals and healthcare organizations.

MAIN ACTIVITIES/TASKS:

  • Develop and communicate a compelling vision and strategy for the therapy-area events team, aligning with organizational goals.

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing, innovative team, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Mentor team members in project management, strategic execution, and change management, promoting adaptability and innovation.

  • Collaborate across functions to develop comprehensive plans for therapy-specific events and activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Oversee the selection and management of external agencies and vendors, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective delivery.

  • Leverage data analytics, digital platforms, and emerging technologies to optimize stakeholder engagement and maximize event impact.

  • Drive digital transformation initiatives, integrating innovative formats and digital strategies to enhance stakeholder impact.

  • Lead change management efforts to embed new technologies, formats, and engagement strategies.

  • Shape and oversee the evolution of the event management model, ensuring consistency, compliance, and regional harmonization.

  • Provide ongoing insights and reporting based on KPIs, outcomes, and industry trends.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management

  • Build and maintain influential relationships with senior internal stakeholders across departments and with key internal functions to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, facilitating collaboration across disciplines to achieve common objectives.

  • Establish and nurture external collaborations with agencies, healthcare professionals, healthcare organizations, and industry consortia to facilitate innovative, compliant, and impactful customer-facing initiatives.

  • Serve as a primary contact for senior stakeholders, providing updates, insights, and strategic guidance.

  • Maintain a dotted-line reporting relationship with the GS POLO Budget Associates, responsible for ESO event budget tracking and monitoring, to ensure strategic alignment and consistent application of agency-related efficiencies.

  • Act as the liaison with the GS POLO Budget Associates, supporting communication and coordination to enable visibility into spend patterns and ensure resources are used efficiently across TA related products.

Strategic Oversight & Compliance

  • Provide oversight for the planning and execution of HCC-sensitive activities, ensuring that initiatives align with the strategic objectives of the therapy area, compliance and operational excellence guidelines.

  • Ensure all activities meet regulatory, ethical, and quality standards, maintaining audit readiness with thorough documentation.

  • Monitor regulatory changes proactively and implement best practices and training to ensure ongoing compliance.

Performance Metrics, Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Define, refine, and monitor KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate event effectiveness.

  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiencies, digital engagement, and innovative practices.

  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, thought leadership, and continuous learning across the organization.

  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced academic qualifications, such as an MS/MA degree are a plus. Proficiency certification in English.

  • Experience in an events-related role in the pharmaceutical industry, 10+ years, with proven success in event management.

  • Extensive experience leading teams and navigating matrixed organizations.

  • Innovative mindset with a focus on high-quality, impactful engagement.

  • Deep understanding of regulatory, compliance, and ethical standards related to medical/scientific engagements.

  • Advocate and role model Johnson & Johnson Credo values.

  • Fluency in English; further languages an advantage.

  • Willingness to travel within Europe (~15-20% of time).

EMEA Location: the role is expected to be located in the current country of residence, with local hosting available at a J&J Commercial Innovative Medicine office. Please note that we do not offer relocation for this position.
