Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Operations located in in either Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Horsham, PA; Zug, CH; Schaffhausen, CH; Leiden, NL or Beerse, BE.
The Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Operations is part of the Value Chain Management and is responsible for leading the Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Data Strategy & Operations organization focused on delivering high quality data assets, defining data Governance & Operating Standards and other data capabilities that will serve as a foundation to Innovative Medicine Supply Chain digital enablement.
This role is accountable to lead the definition & execution of the IMSC Data Strategy with direct responsibility for Data Strategy and Maturity, Data Governance & Operating Standards, and Defining and building key Data processes and capabilities such as Data Operations, Workflow management, Data Performance KPIs/Measures, Data Quality and Data structural design inclusive of transactional master data through supply chain data assets.
The Sr. Director, Data Strategy & Operations will also have operational responsibility for Innovative Medicine Supply Chain ERP Run State Data Operations and lead a team of 40-50 Full Time headcount and 30-40 contractors focused on transactional master data execution as part of a federated execution model with the Supply Chain Functions.
This role collaborates closely with the Sr. Director of Digital Strategy & Execution and the Head of Digital & Data Science to ensure flawless execution of the IMSC E2E Digital & Data Operating Model as well as aligning Data Strategy, Capabilities and outputs with the requirements of a Digitally Enabled Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop & Deploy the IMSC Data strategy & Operations Model in alignment with the J&J IMSC Digital Operating model to deliver of a Digitally enabled supply chain:
- Partner with business, LT, and Digital/tech leaders to create, scope and continuously improve the IMSC Data strategy including capabilities, operations and performance standards for data operations & execution including qualitative/quantitative descriptors of future state value drivers.
- Align the supply chain data strategy with Innovative Medicine Supply Chain and IMSC Digital Operating model to accelerate the IMSC Goal of creating a digitally enabled supply chain
- Shape Data strategy & operations, in partnership with the J&J End-to-End Functions including JJSC, Commercial and R&D teams.
- Develop & Deploy a data maturity model that assesses and measurably quantifies supply chain maturity and opportunities for capability deployment.
- Define & Execute the Data Strategy & Capabilities model & define operating/process standards for the following areas:
o Data Strategy & Maturity
o Data Governance & Operating Standards
o Run State Data Operations Model
o Data Capabilities (Workflow, Performance Management, Execution, etc.)
o Data Asset Hierarchy & Ownership Model
o Data Quality
o Organizational Capabilities, Talent & Career Model
- Participate in the Digital Operating Committee to ensure full integration & alignment of data strategy, capabilities and performance with all aspects of the Digital Strategy & Operating model:
o Lead Long Range Financial & Business Planning process for Data investments in support of the full Digital stack in alignment with financial processes & targets.
o Drive accountability for data execution across functions through business review & performance monitoring/portfolio tracking process; define data performance metrics and targeted to ensure efficiency & effectiveness.
o Manage Digital IRC & Financial approvals inclusive strategy alignment, business case development and value capture for Data Investments.
o Partner closely with Digital & Data Science, Digital Strategy & Execution and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment to digital operating model roles, responsibilities and capabilities.
- Directly responsible for IMSC Master Data Operations execution & performance:
o Accountable for all aspects of master data operations performance and quality. Ensure that Data Operations is delivering on all KPIs (Cycle Time, Data Quality, etc.)
o Partnering with functional master data execution nodes to ensure compliance to data operations standards & delivering performance targets
o Leads the Innovative Medicine Supply Chain ERP Run State Data Operations team of 40-50 Full Time headcount and 30-40 contractors focused on transactional master data execution.
- Partner and Connect with Key Stakeholders and business partners both within and outside of Innovative Medicine supply Chain to ensure that Data Strategy, Capabilities and performance are aligned:
o Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Functions (Plan, MTO, Source, Deliver, Quality, VCM, etc.)
o Transcend Execution & Strategy Team
o Johnson & Johnson Technology (JJT)
o Enterprise Technology & Data Teams
o Commercial and Digital & Data Leadership
Qualifications
- BS in Science, Business, Supply Chain or Engineering required. MBA, or equivalent, highly preferred.
- 15+ years of professional experience
- At least 10+ years of People management experience, including leading leaders across multifunctional teams.
- At least 10+ years of experience Managing a portfolio of products/projects and delivering results.
- At least 10+ years of industry experience working in more than one of the following areas:
o Delivery
o Manufacturing
o Planning
o Quality
o Information Technology
o ERP Systems & Data
o Sourcing
o Data Management/Execution
- Proven history of successfully launching new products.
- Experience creating AND delivering strategy in relevant areas of the business.
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate and partner across functions, especially at the executive level.
- Experience in formal Global Program & Project Management is preferred. Formal certification in Project Execution (PMP, FPX) strongly Preferred.
- Experience in Portfolio Governance, Management & Prioritization is preferred.
- Experience of successfully launching complex and global new products, preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills (English)
- Travel percentage – 30% Domestic & International

In the United States, the anticipated base pay range for this position is 173000 to 299000.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
