J&J Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Sr. Manager, Project Management reporting to the Director Project Management and to be based in one of the locations where the position has been posted.

The Sr. Manager, Project Management , is accountable for end‑to‑end delivery and performance of small‑to‑high complex JJIM Real Estate projects across EMEA, mainly focusing on office capital programs that translate workplace strategy into a space built to meet productivity, employee experience, Corporate branding and efficiency objectives. Projects typically span multiple floors or buildings, involve high complexity MEP and IT systems, carry high regulatory and sustainability requirements and require the engagement and collaboration with multiple interested parties.

This role is accountable for managing a portfolio up to $10M/year of real estate office projects below $10M value each, ensuring projects progress throughout the project leading the expedition of key activities across function, finding solutions to key problems, and communicating project progress, issues and solutions to management and to the project team.

A suitable candidate has validated end‑to‑end delivery experience on small–to–high complexity capital projects for both office fit‑outs and pharma manufacturing, including process engineering and sterile facilities.

Key relationships include coordination with E&PS Functions (Real Estate, Facilities Management and E&PS COE’s Partners) CCFS, EH&S, ITS and affiliate Engineering Groups across JnJ Sectors, establishing effective partnership with interested parties in the business.

Key Responsibilities

Using the IDEA delivery framework (Initiation → Definition → Execution → Assessment) through all project phases, the role is accountable to:

  • Deliver a portfolio of small/medium (below $10M) office projects, directly and/or through external Project Managers, coordinating and coaching them to ensure performance meets corporate standards, timelines, budgets and quality expectations.

  • Partner with Real Estate Lead to support site selection and lease terms and conditions agreement processes

  • Develop Project Execution Plans that define scope, functions, resources and delivery strategies based on project complexity, business strategy and applicable policies/regulations.

  • Coordinate design, procurement and construction activities, leading internal teams and third‑party contractors, suppliers and consultants.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, legal, corporate and local statutory requirements

  • Drive project tracking and reporting against key outcomes by defining metrics, reviewing performance, and implementing corrective actions to close gaps.

  • Develop and apply risk‑management methodology to identify, evaluate and mitigate risks to project objectives.

  • Coordinate commissioning, qualification, validation in facilities subject to health‑authority oversight (e.g., FDA, EMA), and support technology transfer where required.

  • Establish and maintain partnerships and alignment with Sponsors, key partners and core/extended teams on objectives, responsibilities and decision points.

  • Develop and implement a Sponsor‑approved communications plan, preparing and reporting regular updates and stage‑gate materials to interested parties

  • Identify and evaluate proposed changes, handle change requests with the Sponsor and project teams

  • Resolve critical issues and remove obstacles to maintain project momentum

  • Lead project closeout and operational handover, including archiving and financial close out

  • Facilitate lessons learned session from both project and business perspectives, identifying improvements to strengthen project delivery capability.

Education & Experience Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or comparable experience required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Office and Project required

Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum of 7 years of Project Management experience

  • For internal candidates only: FPX Project Leader Certification & familiarity with IDEA Project Delivery Process

  • Prior experience leading medium to large capital projects in Supply Chain, R&D, Distribution Centers or Offices

  • Translates business needs into engineering concepts, demonstrating strong knowledge and awareness of technical and regulatory issues affecting offices and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

  • Sound knowledge of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and managing of Budget and Schedule

  • Experience and skills in contracts terms and conditions agreement finalization

  • Validated excellent Business Partners engagement and leadership, aligning sponsor, interested parties and delivery team to achieve strategic goals

  • Excellent listening and problem-solving skills when handling project challenges

  • Track record of developing and maintaining strong, concerted partnerships at all levels

Preferred

  • Manufacturing experience in FDA or other regulated environments from design through startup

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or comparable academic or professional qualification

  • Master’s degree experience preferred

Language Requirements: Proficiency: English language

Travel Requirements: This position will require 30% domestic and international travel

"The anticipated base pay range for this position is 82,900 EUR to 144,210 EUR on an annual basis and includes 8% holiday allowance"
