Purpose: As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety of warehouse personnel, equipment, environment and operating according to EHS guidelines. You will play a crucial role in identifying potential hazards, developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures, conducting safety training, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

As a Warehouse EH&S Specialist, you will:

  • Act as the owner of dangerous goods storage areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive safety program tailored to the specific needs of the warehouse facility.
  • Implement safety policies, standards, and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and property damage.
  • Provide expert mentorship and advice to warehouse staff on safety matters, including safe handling of equipment, accurate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ergonomics.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs to educate employees on standard methodologies and ensure their understanding and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings, root causes, and recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and improve emergency response plans, including fire safety procedures, evacuation protocols, and first aid measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in safety regulations, recommending vital updates to the safety program as needed.
  • Actively participate in projects, safety and environmental, GMPs, SOPs trainings and others as needed and/or special activities that the company promotes to develop employee involvement and their professional development/growth.

Required qualifications::

  • Proven experience in warehouse safety or a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., PGS15, ARIE, ARBO).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential risks and develop effective preventive measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work well with employees and partners at all levels.
  • Ability to deliver engaging safety training sessions and facilitate discussions on safety-related topics.
  • Diligent demeanour and strong problem-solving skills to investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools to track safety performance and generate reports.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proficient reading, writing and speaking in English.
  • Good understanding of the Dutch language is preferred.
