Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

As part of our ongoing pursuit of excellence, we will be kicking off a significant Transformation Project to introduce S/4HANA, and as such we have created several positions to support this enterprise project (Project Nexus).

Role Purpose:

The 3PL Solution Architect is responsible to lead the design, development, and implementation of third-party logistics (3PL) integrations within our S/4HANA ERP transformation project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP S/4HANA, supply chain processes, and integrating 3PL systems with enterprise ERP platforms. This role is critical to ensuring seamless connectivity between the organization's internal systems and external logistics partners, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and enabling real-time data exchange. The 3PL Integration Architect will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a robust and scalable integration solution.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-impact ERP transformation project with exposure to cutting-edge SAP technologies. The role is critical to ensuring that the organization leverages S/4HANA to drive business value and operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and architecture of integration solutions between SAP S/4HANA and third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain integration blueprints, technical specifications, and architectural guidelines for 3PL connectivity, including EDI, API, and other data exchange mechanisms.
  • Oversee the implementation of 3PL integration solutions, working closely with technical teams, 3PL providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful deployment.
  • Supervise configuration and test integration scenarios in S/4HANA, ensuring accurate data mapping, transformation, and transmission between systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for 3PL integration within the S/4HANA project, coordinating with internal teams, 3PL providers, and other third-party vendors.
  • Lead the development and execution of test plans for 3PL integration scenarios, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure that 3PL integration solutions comply with relevant data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in 3PL integration processes, leveraging new technologies and best practices to enhance efficiency.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience in at least one full-cycle SAP implementation, with a focus on supply chain and 3PL integration.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, logistics operations, and the role of 3PL providers in the enterprise environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP, particularly the procurement modules (e.g., MM, Ariba, Supplier Relationship Management).
  • Proficiency in integration technologies and methodologies, including EDI, API, IDoc, and middleware platforms (e.g., SAP PI/PO, SAP Cloud Platform Integration).
  • Experience with data mapping, transformation, and real-time data exchange between ERP systems and 3PL providers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
