Job Description
We are looking for a motivated fourth or fifth year HBO or master student with a (medical) biotechnology or virology background! Welcome to our team
The BTS department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on developing new - or supporting existing processes for vaccine manufacturing. The team consists of ±80 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in the (veterinary) vaccine industry. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.
Your internship assignment
The overall goal of the internship is to carry out laboratory work aimed at the development of new products, the improvement of existing products, or solving problems in the production of existing products, according to instructions and general guidelines, in a safe and (GLP/GMP) compliant manner and where possible at own discretion and initiative.
Your responsibilities
Project oriented tasks
- Receives and discusses assignments from / with Project Leader(s). Performs experiments based on general guidelines and instructions, possibly with reference to existing processes and methods.
- Creates a test design in consultation with Project Leader(s) and arranges the supporting work as necessary.
- Is responsible for carrying out the standard provisions and tests. Plans the work for this.
- Indicates deviations, investigates the cause, and makes proposals for improving / changing the experimental design.
- Records the results in the laboratory journal, interprets them and discusses them with the project team.
- Writes Subject Memos, Subject Reports and Regulations / Protocols (if necessary, in English) with low complexity.
- Performs operations under GxP (e.g., assistance with pilot- and consistency batch productions, small scale batches for animal studies, and seed productions).
- Is expected to propose introduction of new methods and techniques.

- Caries out activities for the daily laboratory operations (including GxP, EHS).

Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion.
The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.
What is required
• Fourth or fifth year HBO or master student in (medical) biotechnology or virology.
• Familiarity with basic cell & virus culturing, immunological assays (ELISA, virus titration etc.) and familiarity with bioreactors (pré)
• Excellent Dutch and/or English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Available for a period of 6 months for 5 days per week
