At our Company’s Animal Health location in Boxmeer, The Netherlands, you will join a dynamic R&D division of over 200 professionals dedicated to developing innovative vaccines and pharmaceuticals for animals. The Companion Animals R&D team, with around 20 experts, focuses on vaccines for cats, dogs, rabbits, and horses. You will work in a collaborative, multicultural environment alongside experienced scientists committed to advancing veterinary medicine. Purpose of the role
As a Scientist R&D for Vaccines in Companion Animals, you will conduct laboratory-based research to support vaccine development. Your tasks include managing and analyzing experimental data, applying digital and AI tools, and growing and characterizing pathogens using in-vitro and in-vivo systems. You will perform serological assays, isolate pathogens, and organize and report in-vivo experiments under supervision, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will prepare materials for testing, help develop new lab methods, and maintain communication with production, quality, animal research, and regulatory teams. Collaboration with colleagues and supporting new employee training are also key parts of your role.

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Enter, check, and format experimental data for analysis; evaluate and implement digital and AI solutions.
  • Grow, quantify, and characterize pathogens using in-vitro and in-vivo test systems.
  • Perform serological assays and isolate pathogens from in-vivo samples to assess vaccine safety and efficacy.
  • Organize, execute, and report in-vivo experiments and departmental activities under supervision.
  • Prepare materials for in-vitro and in-vivo testing and support development of new test methods and production processes.
  • Conduct experiments in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Maintain communication with production, quality, animal research, and regulatory affairs departments.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow scientists and support training of new employees.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science with 3-5 years’ experience in laboratory techniques and cell culture.
  • Strong affinity for data analysis, management, and interest in digitalization and AI applications.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, eager to learn and drive progress.
  • Positive attitude with respect for multicultural and organizational diversity.
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written.
  • Eligible to work in The Netherlands.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or industry environments.
  • Proactive approach to GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) compliance.
