The position part of the wider Science & Technology (S&T) Excellence Team. The S&T Excellence Team will oversee project and portfolio management, including New Product Commercialization and Transfer. It will provide support on Aseptic Excellence, Data Science, and strategic initiatives. The team will collaborate with Operations Excellence and Quality Excellence teams to drive operational excellence across Small Molecules and Large Molecules networks.

As Senior Data Scientist you take seat in the Data Science and Biostatistics COE that drives and delivers data driven solutions for prioritized products/activities across GAHM. They provide mentorship in data skills and lead projects on quality control methods, assay analysis, and regulatory evidence, while also working to reduce costs and improve yields.

The position

The Senior Data Scientist plays a critical role in applying advanced data science methods to support and optimize manufacturing processes across Animal Health operations. This role acts as the key point of contact for assigned initiatives, particularly within blending process optimization, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in operations, quality, and global science & technology functions. The role requires strong technical expertise, communication skills, and leadership in promoting the use of data to improve decision-making, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use data and statistical models to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

  • Build digital tools (like dashboards) to support automation and better decision-making.

  • Lead blending process improvement projects and act as a subject matter expert.

  • Manage key projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver practical data solutions.

  • Investigate production issues and support root cause analysis using data.

  • Help develop corrective actions in partnership with Quality and Manufacturing teams.

  • Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing.

  • Promote standardization, automation, and continuous improvement in analytics.

  • Explore new data tools and approaches to drive innovation.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in applied data science or statistical roles, ideally in manufacturing or life sciences.

  • Proficiency in R and/or Python; experience with RShiny, statistical modelling, and process simulation is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to present complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing across global and local organizations.

  • Background in biopharma, vaccines, or animal health manufacturing is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with GMP environments and data integrity principles.

  • Passion for innovation, simplification, and making data actionable.
