Team Overview

The NL Finance Hub is divided into the Finance Director EMEA & LA Hubs Controlling Group, the Entities Controlling Group, the Finance Director AP Hub Controlling Group (location Singapore), the Risk and Financial Compliance, Controlling Tax, Pensions and Treasury and some other activities. Our team is responsible for Entity Reporting & Financial Controlling of our company. There are close relations with the Business Service Center (BSC), Cost, Sales and Inventory (COSI), Tax, Treasury and Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams globally. The NL Finance Hub supports a wide variety of our legal entities.

Job Purpose
The Specialist - General Accounting works within the Entity Controllers Group supporting financial reporting and controllership of the department together with the AtR Lead (Account to Reporting). You will report to the Controller and will cooperate closely with other members of the Entity Controllers Group, BSC, COSI, IC COE, Tax, Treasury and SCM teams. The responsibilities are a mix of complex and standard activities, where decisions should be made, in consultancy with the Senior Lead and/or Associate Director (AD). The responsibilities are focused on AtR activities and could be split on the following:

  • Maintain relation with BSC, IC COE, COSI, and members within the Finance team - cooperate to perform month-end accounting activities and ensure correctness of the executed data within reporting systems;
  • Draw up financial analyses and financial reports according to financial policies and procedures and General Accepted Accounting Principles (i.e., Sales recognition) to provide management with the actual and correct results and ensure timely reporting of financial positions;
  • Coordinate preparation of data for Monthly and Quarterly Financial results meetings;
  • Maintain overall strong entity control environment on financial, operational, and external business relationship, this includes AtR-related reviews such as intercompany charges and re-charge activities, and departmental spend analyses, and entails working with relevant stakeholders;
  • Support internal and external audits – including liaising with internal (MCAAS) and external (PwC) audit teams;
  • Within the AtR group, support entity profitability calculation and review. Coordinate settlement for intercompany adjustments and true up;
  • Advise on and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the own work-area and on departmental level. Participate or support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of processes within own work-area and department level;
  • Together with the AD, participate to review/develop and/or implement Finance NL Policies and Procedures to ensure effective financial stewardship;
  • Openly share and mentor experience with peers to broaden knowledge and increase efficiency;
  • Back-up line senior specialists or other specialists as needed in related areas within the team, such as the accounting and control side of the OtC function


Knowledge & Skills

  • Business & financial Acumen: understanding of financial data and business facts and apply to use data when making decisions, including recommendations;
  • Working across boundaries; understanding of roles and responsibilities of the teams and functions;
  • Problem solving; ability to evaluate data, determine accuracy, combine data, analytics and work problems solving;
  • Financial regulatory knowledge; knowledge of financial policies and standards, like US GAAP, FCPA and Dutch GAAP and applies these in moderately complex situations.


Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting;
  • 5 -8 years of relevant experience in Finance;
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP, HFM and other financial systems;
  • Excellent communication skills in English;
  • Project management skills;
  • Ability, willingness, and flexibility to travel occasionally.
