Associate Director Technology & Design Support CAPEX

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Director of Technology & Early Design within Organon Engineering & Solutions (OE&S), this role is integral to our Organon Science and Technology division. You will be supporting design (management) of capital projects and troubleshooting/problem solving for relevant technology issues. Your role is crucial in ensuring Organon's projects meet high standards and drive business success. You'll work with diverse teams, balancing technical expertise with project management skills to deliver optimal outcomes.

Main responsibilities

As a key player in Organon's engineering team, you'll wear many hats and contribute significantly to our capital projects. Here's what you can expect in your role:

  • Partner with Organon sites on their projects
  • Spearhead FEL (Feasibility Evaluation )1 and FEL2 phases of capital projects
  • Offer expertise on large projects or manage smaller ones independently
  • Ensure project scope aligns with business goals
  • Guide projects through FEL0, FEL1, and FEL2 stages
  • Assist with cost estimates and schedules
  • Challenge design teams to meet project objectives
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for the global Organon network
  • Offer input on externally managed projects
  • Develop and maintain specialized technical knowledge
  • Mentor assigned engineers
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for engineering standards
  • Oversee the community of practice for technology and design
  • Lead initiatives to enhance engineering work processes
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the Road Map
  • Act as sub-owner of the CAPEX Engineering Road Map system
  • Gather market intelligence and conduct benchmarking
  • Create templates and training materials for engineering topics

Your profile

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or similar field)
  • 8-10 years of experience in process industry, preferably pharmaceuticals
  • Proven track record in complex capital projects, especially front-end engineering and design
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and communication abilities
  • Excellent analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
  • Creative problem-solving approach
  • Hands-on attitude and flexibility
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in at least one other language (Spanish, Dutch, or Portuguese preferred)
  • Prepared to spend up to 50% of your time traveling, mainly to European locations
