Job Description

Purpose of this internship is to identify various potential factors of 'peak splitting' and to evaluate these potential factors (e.g. by experimental designs) to optimize the method. You will work in close collaboration with our Global Analytical Sciences team, which requires good communication and reporting skills in the English.


Tasks:

  • Literature review: Learn about the chemical properties and the possible causes of “peak splitting”. Familiarize yourself with the methods and conditions (e.g. solvents, mobile phase, column).

  • Establish relationships between method conditions and potential contributes to “peak splitting”. Identify alternatives, like for example alternative suitable HPLC columns or different water qualities and map their properties (e.g. end-capping, silica quality, pH, level of trace metals, etc.).

  • Qualify yourself to independently perform HPLC analyses within the GMP environment of Organon QC-AC using the chromatography data system Empower.

  • Set up a test plan (using experimental design), to evaluate the impact of different parameters and combinations of parameters.

  • Report and present your findings and recommendations to a team of analytical experts.

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop your analytical skills

  • Become familiar with analytical release testing in a pharma environment.

  • You will work on optimizing parameters and understanding the influence and interactions of parameters on your analytics.

  • Furthermore, you will gain experience with setting up test plans (applying experimental designs). These experiences will help you gain insight into the challenges of analytical chemistry and build the skills needed to develop and validate reliable analytical methods.
