Intern - Materials Science & Engineering Crystallization

Job Description

The function

Are you looking for an internship where you are free to take initiative? Would you like to experience working in one of the biggest multinationals in the pharmaceutical industry? We are looking for a Master student in Pharmaceutical, Physical (Organic), Materials or Analytical Chemistry, who is searching for a challenging internship in our innovative company. The successful candidate must be available full-time 5 days per week, for a period of 6 months, starting in February 2025.

The goal of this internship is to provide the student with hands-on experience in the development and optimization of the crystallization process for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The project will focus on investigating the crystallization behavior using reaction stations and a variety of advanced physico-chemical characterization techniques, including XRPD, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM and PSD. The student will gain valuable insights into the solid-state properties of APIs and contribute to enhancing the quality and scalability of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform crystallization experiments: assist in performing crystallization trials using reaction stations to investigate API behavior under different process conditions.

  • Characterize properties of raw materials and final products.

  • Data analysis and reporting: analyze experimental data and prepare detailed reports.

  • Contribute to process optimization: provide insights to improve the scalability and quality of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes based on experimental results.

  • Providing a fresh perspective within the department: your opinion matters.

The above-mentioned responsibilities are an indication of what you will be doing after proper onboarding and initial learning and development. This provides you with the opportunity to learn and hereafter perform tasks independently. In consultation with your supervisor, you could take on additional tasks and responsibilities.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Master student in Pharmaceutical, Physical (Organic), Materials or Analytical Chemistry.

  • You're familiar with some of the above-mentioned techniques and have experience working in a chemical laboratory.

  • You're excited about learning new techniques in crystallization and materials characterization, gaining hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and collaborating with an international team to contribute process optimization.

  • You are looking for an internship assignment where you get the freedom for your own initiative.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
