Job Overview

As Legal Counsel West Europe, you will play a key role in our EMEA legal team. You will provide cross-regional internal legal support, with a focus on the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg). There may also be opportunities to expand the reach of this role to other EMEA countries based on the team's needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Advice, draft, negotiate various types of agreements (sales agreements, collaboration agreements, IT agreements, co-marketing agrement, license agreements, procurement agreements, MSAs, etc)
  • Ensure compliance with laws (including MedTech Europe and sunshine), policies and processes
  • Assist with settlements and dispute resolution matters
  • Provide advice on legal queries such as competition law, regulatory, data privacy, healthcare compliance, IP, etc
  • Contribute to the team's harmonization and digitization strategies
  • Align with leadership on priorities and goals
  • Educate and train employees regarding templates, laws, processes and procedures, etc

Requirements

  • Qualified and admitted as a lawyer in Belgium or Netherlands
  • Proven experience of more than 5 years in-house (or in international law firm) in general commercial/transactional legal work (in life science, pharma, biotech industry an advantage)
  • Strong experience in the key responsibilities described above
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and business sense (including the ability to influence business teams)
  • Ability to develop processes, to find pragmatic solutions to problems and to prioritize work
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, fast paced and changing environment
  • Possess flexibility and ability to think laterally
  • Proficiency in English (Dutch or French an advantage)

Location

This position can be based in one of our offices or remote in Belgium, Netherlands or Europe.
