About the job

We have an exciting new job opening for a Generative AI Scientist in our Rapid Response Team. We are looking for a creative candidate who thrives on curiosity and learning, who has a passion to innovate, and enjoys a challenge. If you are that kind of scientist consider joining our team of thinkers and doers to drive innovation at the intersection of discovery and action!

This position is in our Eindhoven-based Rapid Response Team (RRT), part of the Data and AI group at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The RRT is a multidisciplinary team focused on unlocking Generative AI's potential for customer products and R&D processes. The team moves quickly, progressing from ideation to proof of concept within four weeks.

As a creative force in the RRT, you’ll explore and showcase new GenAI technologies for future products and processes. Your role involves iterating on prototypes, validating assumptions, and preparing demos and reports. You'll collaborate with AI specialists, marketing, IT & SW Digital specialists, and partner teams, sharing results and insights across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and computer science, with experience and interest in (generative) AI techniques. These include natural language generation, computer vision, speech synthesis, and reinforcement learning. Knowledge on AI related hardware is a plus. You should be a creative problem solver, able to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, and have good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and propose compelling proof-of-concepts for application of generative AI in customer products or R&D process improvements.
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in the field of Generative AI and disseminate that learning in the team.
  • Collaborate closely with the AI teams across Thermo Fisher Scientific to define and integrate next generation AI methods into our customers products.
  • Drive patent generation in your field of expertise.

Qualifications:
We require a hands-on researcher with excellent analytical skills and an intrinsic drive to overcome obstacles.

  • Preferably a Ph.D. in Computer Science or AI / Data Science.
  • Experience with applied machine learning research, with a focus on generative models such as LLM's, GANs, VAEs, autoregressive models, and diffusion models.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
Being a highly collaborative and adaptable researcher with great interpersonal skills, integrating well into multidisciplinary teams.

  • Able to build connections with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build meaningful relationships that improve project outcomes and promotes collaboration.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package and a supportive, cutting-edge environment. You are surrounded and supported by an AI team with a broad set of backgrounds such as Computer science, Physics, Math, Biology, and semiconductor technology. You have also access to advanced machine learning infrastructure.
