Would you like to lead the management and execution of analyses of marketing and competitive information that is critical to driving strategic investment choices in an amazing technology business? The Market Intelligence manager is a member of the Materials Science business units 'Strategy and Innovation' team. As a key person in this team you would help us to achieve the objective of ensuring most favorable business directions and sustainable long term growth .
Responsibilities
- Gathering and analysis of win loss, competition and market performance data, including current and potential revenues, share and growth.
- Undertake research on a wide range of market issues, such as new technologies, inflection points, alliances, acquisitions and geopolitical factors.
- Actively collaborate with other Thermo Fisher business units and strategic marketing teams to consolidate and report findings.
- Provide analyses, insights and perspectives related competition in our segments worldwide.
- Providing input and guidance to commercial, marketing, legal, and engineering teams.
- Work independently to lead regular reporting as well as respond to ad-hoc requests.
- Responsible for the input to STRAP planning working closely with strategic marketing
- Participate in creating strategies to react to market changes
Supervisory responsibilities
This is primarily an individual contributor role. There are no direct supervisory responsibilities, although it is expected that the Competitive Intelligence Manager will own and lead supporting the Materials Science business and more widely in the Materials and Structural Analysis Division with the activities described above.
Requirements
- Good analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience in a Market (MI) or Competitive Intelligence (CI) related role.
- Solid understanding of marketing principles and processes and intelligence collection skills.
- A good understanding of the Materials Science Market and technology trends would be useful.
- Ability to work independently and be flexible to meet regular and ad hoc timelines.
- Ability to comfortably communicate and collaborate with several different levels of our organisation.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and understanding of relational databases.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced sophisticated environment with limited oversight
- Project management experience.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. MBA preferred.
Experience
- Validated (3-5 yrs) experience in a CI or related MI role.
- Demonstrable primary intelligence collection and reporting skills.
- Experience in Materials Science market would be preferred.
