Thermo Fisher Scientific is a world-wide company, and the world leader in serving science. In the Analytical Instruments Group, the Material and Structural Analysis Division is looking for Operations Engineer specialized in parts precision and clean work.
Within the Material Sciences Operations Engineering department, the Equipment and Tooling group is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and qualification of high-tech production units. This involves close collaboration with our supply chain to maintain and improve contamination control standards. The Operations Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing processes that meet our high standards of cleanliness and quality. This role is based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
The mission
Our mission is to design, manufacture and sell industry leading new type of microscopes enabling our customers to work for instance on new drugs against viruses, new materials for batteries, smaller and smaller semiconductors. Such developments require from us to ensure that our production units are free from contamination, which is essential for the manufacturing of industry-leading scientific instruments. This role requires a professional and passionate candidate who is driven by technology and the challenges of maintaining high purity standards. As an Operations Engineer, you will be technically responsible for the cleaning and qualification processes, working to improve and innovate our contamination control methods. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure our products meet the highest quality standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as the internal and external technical point of contact for post-production cleaning and contamination control, providing technical support for change or release processes.
- Manage and optimize cleaning processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness, and implement process improvements and control measures to improve the cleanliness of sophisticated parts and diverse materials.
- Address and resolve material and process-related problems using techniques such as Rest Gas Analyses (RGA) and 8D analysis, and tackle problems related to cleaning processes, addressing issues.
- Develop and implement new quality measurement techniques, ensuring efficient cleaning flow, quality, and tooling for maintaining a clean work environment.
- Assist with NPI and production processes, focusing on contamination prevention and control.
- Contribute actively to production and supply chain processes, ensuring high purity cleaning standards, and maintain effective communication.
- Develop and maintain cleanliness protocols and standards, and evaluate Technical Product Documentation (TPD) for cleaning, qualification, and risk assessment using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Experience in a high-tech production environment and sophisticated assembly and cleaning processes.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Lean techniques.
- Knowledge of material properties in relation to chemistry.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings.
- Proactive approach with excellent communication and social skills.
- Proficiency in English and German is preferred.
