How will you make an impact

In our facilities around the world ThermoFisher MSD builds world-class electron microscopes, constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our performance and efficiency!

The Manufacturing Engineer is part of the Operations Engineering team in Eindhoven. Your task is to create, maintain, and optimize production processes. You’ll contribute to the four main production engineer drivers: cycle time, cost, efficiency and quality. Interaction with internal and external parties to find and implement reliable solutions in order to achieve operational excellence in processes and product quality.

What will you do

  • Provide technical support to ensure timely and high-quality system shipments from the factory
  • Areas of impact: Mainly metal parts that are in vacuum in FEG electron source used in our TEM systems.
  • Work in close collaboration with the suppliers to tackle technical/quality issues. Main focus is on cleanliness of metal machined parts
  • Support factory assembly in case of questionable contaminated/damaged mechanical parts.
  • When needed, join audit process at suppliers to validate their production processes. Main focus is on cleanliness of metal machined parts.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Part Precition Cleaning Engineer that owns the internal cleaning processes.
  • Performing hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and training of personnel as required

How to get there (Education and experience):

  • MBO++ or HBO-Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, mechanical engineering, material science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a high-end clean production environment.
  • Adequate knowledge of high-end part cleaning techniques and clean part handling for deep vacuum applications.
  • Able to translate cleanliness requirements (TPD) into practical cleaning strategies.
  • In possesion of a certificate in elementary vacuum technology, familiar to RGA and cleanliness validation techniques.
  • Experience in problem solving strategies: analyzing a problem, finding the root-cause and come to effective solutions.
  • Using quality and risk control methodologies such as SPC, P-FMEA, process flow, Lean Six Sigma, etc.

Personal Skills

  • Good social and communication skills to work in teams or to train others.
  • Display a practical hands-on approach, yet retaining attention for details.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel and proactively manage tasks to completion.
  • Adequate language skills in English (speech and writing), speaking the Dutch language is a big plus.
  • Having a strong analytical attitude in coping with details that need structure.
  • Have a proactive attitude in building functional relationships with colleagues and external suppliers, taking the tactical appr oach.
