Internship Description:

The assignment focuses on using or developing an optical model for the electron source model of the electron microscope. The purpose for this model is to use it for troubleshoot purposes. The model needs to be flexible in use so that it can be used in different configurations and for different source types. The independent parts of the assignments consist of:

  • Get comfortable with using the source module of our microscopes and understand the typical failures modes that need to be modelled.
  • Develop or use current models to create an optical model for the electron source module.
  • Find optical settings in the microscope to troubleshoot specific parts of the microscope from the model.
  • Validate the found settings on an electron microscope and verify how it is interacting.
  • Summarize all results in readable document that other people can use.
  • Contributing to the documentation and reporting of engineering processes and outcomes.

For this internship assignment we are searching for a student with the following profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's student in Physics, Mathematics, chemistry, or relevant fields Strong academic background in engineering principles and concepts. Proficiency in engineering
  • Have an affinity in coding, preferably with knowledge of Python.
  • Able to run simulations, analysis, and visualization of the results.
  • Proactive, curious mindset, good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities. A proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and professional development
