Job Description

Mission
In our Manufacturing team in Eindhoven, approximately 100 employees work across various production departments. The teams report directly to the group leader/supervisor within the operational production department. Our mission is to deliver systems on time, with excellent product quality, to various customers. This is achieved by following thorough work instructions, procedures, and defined issue resolution processes, all within our high-end cleanroom. We continuously strive to improve performance by actively seeking feedback from both internal and external customers, and through open and direct communication with our suppliers.

Position and Responsibilities
As an assembly technician, you will ensure the building and testing of system modules. Over time, you will also be trained to build the transmission electron microscope (TEM), test modules, and handle additional key responsibilities, such as:

  • Dismantling systems and preparing TEM microscopes for shipment
  • Installing / de-installing energy filters
  • Conducting mechanical installation and de-installation of systems

You will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues related to the dismantling, hardware installation, and de-installation processes at both the module and system levels. This includes working on mechanical and detector components. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, troubleshooters, operations engineering, and R&D teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Clear and transparent communication—both written and verbal—is essential, and you will actively participate in daily tiered meetings to drive continuous improvement and problem-solving.

This position is open to candidates with experience in similar roles as well as recent graduates seeking to make their first career move. You must be driven by technical challenges—primarily mechanical but also with some electrical components—and enjoy working in a cleanroom environment. In this role, you will focus on the dismantling of systems, hardware installation and de-installation of detectors, and other mechanical hardware activities as part of the TEM manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks according to work instructions
  • Ensure the timely delivery of modules with the correct quality
  • Dismantle systems and prepare TEM microscopes for shipment
  • Install Energy Filters and conduct mechanical installation and de-installation
  • Continuously improve products and related processes
  • Actively participate in daily whiteboard meetings
  • Independently detect, analyze, and solve problems
  • Work with high vacuum and high voltage environments

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have the following combination of education and experience:

  • Secondary technical education (MBO) with at least 2 years of work experience, preferably in mechanics or electronics (mechatronics)
  • Proficient communication skills (written and oral) in both Dutch and English
  • Experience with ESD-safe working practices
  • Experience with vacuum technology
  • Familiarity with electronic measuring equipment
  • Experience with Windows and other PC-based software installations

Key Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Attention to detail
  • Prioritizes quality
  • Self-sufficient and a team player
  • Driven by hands-on work
  • Takes initiative and ownership
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes and embrace new challenges with a positive attitude
  • Strong systematic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret physics, mechanics, electronics, and software technical data

If you don’t match all the listed requirements but believe you can be a good fit, we encourage you to apply. We are happy to get to know you and explore possibilities.

Our Offer

  • Direct contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific, with a competitive salary, 13th-month bonus, holiday allowance, and an annual incentive bonus
  • Generous 40 holidays per year
  • Flexible working hours arrangement
  • Excellent career progression opportunities within a growing global employer
  • Continuous personal development with training and courses available via Thermo Fisher University
  • Collaborative work environment in an international setting
