Located in the vibrant city of Eindhoven, Netherlands, you will join a world-class team at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., known for its innovation and dedication to excellence.

Discover Impactful Work:

This internship offers a unique opportunity to directly enhance the efficiency of users performing alignment tasks on high-end TEM systems. The tools developed during this project will significantly reduce the need for manual interventions, allowing users to achieve precise alignments more quickly and easily. Your contributions will streamline daily processes and support groundbreaking advancements in the field.

Scope and Objectives:

  • Conduct literature reviews on alignment methods and learn from mentors
  • Design and implement image processing and optimization algorithms to support alignment routines
  • Write code to steer microscope hardware
  • Develop workflows and recipes for alignment processes
  • Integrate the developed prototype into an existing software system
  • You will actively participate in collaborative meetings, present your findings, and contribute to the academic and practical advancements in microscope alignment.

  • Ambitious drive to improve automation processes

Qualifications:

We encourage candidates with the following qualifications to apply:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Engineering or a related field, or possess equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Familiar with image processing using Python
  • Knowledge of linear algebra and fundamentals of nonlinear optimization
  • A quick learner with a willingness to explore and learn topics outside their comfort zone and a great teammate.
  • Knowledge of electron microscopy is an advantage.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This role requires spending time in a laboratory setting and working with microscope hardware, strictly adhering to safety protocols.
