Job Title: Staff Engineer - NPI

Location/Division Specific Information

Hybrid – Budapest/Brno/Eindhoven/Germering/Bremen

How will you make an impact?

The NPI Staff Engineer is a key member of the NPI Technical Sourcing Engineering (TSE) team and is responsible for aligning sourcing strategies with product development and engineering goals. They will drive engineering support on new product lines through risk mitigation efforts, cost savings initiatives, product scale-up, resolving quality issues, supplier development, and supplier consolidation.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, and Procurement, to align technical requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Champion Design for Excellence (DfX) & Value Assurance Value Engineering (VAVE) principles, focusing on cost, quality, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Develop strong partnering relationships with the Engineering, Technology, and R&D community, as well as with the category teams, manufacturing facilities, and management.
  • Coordinate the development of Should Cost models for new products.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to negotiate supplier agreements that meet cost and technical objectives.
  • Travel will be up to 20% global.

How will you get here?

EDUCATION

Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • BSc with 8+ years’ experience or MSc with 6+ years’ experience: hands on R&D, product design, cost engineering, or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Cost (DfC), and other DfX fields.
  • Experience in Electrical or Electromechanical Design preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Electrical or Mechanical Design software such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Altium, ORCAD or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with expertise in Excel.
  • Strong understanding of new product introduction processes.
  • Exposure to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Medical device experience preferred.
