About Lilly

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our teams discover and deliver life-changing medicines, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to communities through philanthropy and volunteerism.

The team

Global Treasury manages Lilly's worldwide liquidity, cash, and banking infrastructure. The function runs cash forecasting and working capital optimisation, manages global banking relationships, executes funding and capital markets strategies, and oversees foreign exchange and interest rate risk. In the Netherlands, a small international team looks after the accounting, statutory reporting, governance, and controls for Lilly's Dutch legal entities.

About the role

This is a newly created role in Lilly Netherlands Global Treasury. You will own the day-to-day finance and governance work for Lilly's Dutch legal entities: monthly close, statutory reporting, intercompany mechanics, banking governance, and internal controls. It is a broad, high-visibility position with direct exposure to regulators, auditors, and senior Treasury leadership.

The Dutch footprint is growing, including new manufacturing scope, so there is real room to shape how the work is done. You will work closely with the Financial Controller on accounting and audit, support the Senior Tax Manager on Dutch tax, and report to the Executive Director, Global Treasury. A clear part of the mandate is to simplify, automate, and standardise, so the role scales without simply adding manual effort.

What you will do

  • Statutory reporting. Own the recurring statutory and regulatory filings for the Dutch entities, and keep them accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
  • Monthly close. Run the close in SAP: journal entries, reconciliations, approvals, and balance sheet substantiation, under the Financial Controller's governance.
  • Entity governance and controls. Maintain the internal controls framework, including signature and banking authority registers, aligned with statutory director appointments and SOX.
  • Notary and boards. Coordinate the external notary relationship for legal book updates, Commercial Register filings, and legalisation, and support the boards with meeting materials and records.
  • Intercompany. Manage intercompany billing and the monthly loan interest rate checks, in line with the service agreements and transfer pricing framework.
  • Banking and payments. Own day-to-day bank account and portal governance (eBAM): mandates, signatories, access, KYC recertification, manual payments, and SOX evidence.
  • Shared services interface. Act as the escalation and process governance point for Global Business Services on accounts payable and procurement matters for administrative spend.
  • Tax and improvement. Support the Senior Tax Manager on Dutch CIT, VAT, and WHT filings, and lead process improvement and automation across these workstreams.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance, Business Economics, or a related field.
  • 3 to 6 years in finance, accounting, or audit, ideally with a Big Four foundation or a multinational finance function.
  • Solid knowledge of US-GAAP and either NL-GAAP or IFRS. Multi-standard exposure is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.
  • Comfortable working under SOX or an equivalent internal controls framework.
  • Strong SAP, Excel, and Microsoft 365 skills, and confident using AI and other tools to cut manual work.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English at professional level in both. Dutch is required for statutory reporting and notary work.

You are

  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, able to run several controlled workstreams at once.
  • A strong communicator who builds trust across functions, levels, and geographies.
  • Self-motivated and curious, and at ease in a small, multicultural, multilingual team.
  • Control-minded, with a genuine improvement and automation mindset.

Preferred qualifications

Strong candidates will bring several of the following:

  • Professional accounting qualification (RA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent), or clear progress toward one. The role can support completion.
  • Demonstrated ownership of Dutch statutory and regulatory reporting cycles.
  • Proven exposure to Dutch corporate governance, holding company mechanics, or notary-led entity administration.
  • Track record of driving process improvement or automation with a shared service centre on accounting or procurement-to-pay.
  • Practical command of intercompany loans, transfer pricing mechanics, or treasury accounting.
  • Delivery experience across Dutch or EU tax filing cycles (CIT, VAT, WHT).

What we offer

  • Market-conform salary
  • 13th month
  • Option to have holiday allowance and/or 13th month paid out monthly (1/12th each month) instead of once a year
  • Laptop, iPad, iPhone
  • 30 vacation days
  • Pension scheme
  • Monthly home-working allowance
  • Commuting allowance of 0.25 per KM or full reimbursement public transport
  • Benefit from tax advantages via FiscFree on a gym membership, meal boxes, smartwatches, and sports gift cards
  • Internal training programs (LinkedIn Learning Courses/Local Education Policy)
  • Annual company events (e.g. volunteer day/team events)
  • Elevate program to reward your colleagues
  • Bonus/incentive program for all employees

Practical details

  • Occasional calls outside standard hours to align with US and Asia-Pacific colleagues.
  • A background check is part of the selection process.
  • Travel:  Less than 10%
