We are searching for the best talent for Scientific Manager Lab (Data) Systems, located Leiden, The Netherlands (fully onsite). Hybrid work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company. The role sits at the intersection of science, lab operations, data systems, compliance, and people leadership. The Scientific Manager Lab (Data) Systems understands how analytical development labs work, how regulated data needs to be managed, and how to lead a small specialist team while influencing global stakeholders across Leiden and US sites.

Purpose:

As Scientific Manager Lab (Data) Systems you will be accountable for the successful implementation, development and maintenance of validated data systems within the Analytical Development (AD) teams of our Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) division. The AD department is based in Leiden (Netherlands), Malvern (US), and Springhouse (US). You will be managing a strong (data) systems team based in Leiden and work closely together with global partners as part of the Strategic Operations group of AD. As digitalization and data automation is a key focus point within CGT you will be perfectly positioned to have a positive impact to bringing our products to the clinic with speed and quality. You main focus will be to increase efficiency, data availability, data traceability and data integrity.

You will be responsible for:

  • Global implementation of (validated) data systems to increase availability, quality and traceability of our data
  • Manage the Data Systems team based in Leiden (1 Team Lead with 3 team members with potential future expansion)
  • Manage Local equipment team (2 direct reports and external LCM team from a supplier through their team lead)
  • Ensure data integrity by implementing the appropriate systems and workflows
  • Ensuring global alignment and buy in from stakeholders and management
  • Perform master data configuration (through your team)
  • Maintain data systems in a compliant way and being actively involved GMP audits
  • Implementing automated data capture from analytical equipment into our data systems.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum Masters Degree in the field of Biomedical Science or Data Engineering
  • At least 10 Years of experience in data systems in a laboratory environment!
  • Detail oriented with a quality mindset
  • Can-do mindset being able to deliver in a complex organization
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Experienced people manager (5-10 years experience preferred)
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a bonus
  • Able to travel to US 10-15% (once every quarter)
