Program Manager Food Safety
The Program Manager Food Safety , is a key member of the QA organization and responsible for implementation and continuously improvement of food safety, sanitation and regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and training programs. This role provides comprehensive guidance and direction for plant sanitation and pest control across manufacturing operations, warehouses, and plant grounds.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

Develops and monitors prerequisite programs (PRPs) and operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs) to ensure foundational food safety measures are effectively implemented and maintained.

Manages the site’s integrated pest control program , ensuring effective pest management practices are in place and regularly reviewed.

Collaborates and coordinates with Facility Supervisors, Operations Leadership, Operations Associates, and Site Sanitation Crew to achieve optimal Environmental Monitoring and Pest Control performance.

Acts as a key support in assessing and mitigating food safety risks associated with construction and major maintenance projects.

Develops, drives, and oversees the comprehensive sanitation master plan , ensuring compliance with all local, national, and EU regulations, as well as all food safety policies and procedures. Execution of the sanitation plan is managed by food safety engineers within the production organization.

Evaluates facility sanitary conditions , assessing risks based on food safety and public health principles, prioritizing corrective actions, and verifying sanitation activities and validation testing.

Ensures conformance to the master cleaning schedule and adherence to applicable cGMP guidelines, best practices, and requirements.

Develops and implements comprehensive sanitation training programs for sanitation and plant employees as needed.

Maintains and writes detailed cleanup procedures and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for all plant equipment, aiming to reduce water and air usage.

Analyzes monthly environmental samples to monitor pathogenic organisms in the plant, trending results, and developing corrective actions.

Ensures all safety requirements related to sanitation are met , including proper chemical storage, MSDS, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and procedures.

Oversees the department budget , related to pest control and including cost-saving initiatives related to sanitation programs and activities.

Ensures compliance with EU & FDA regulations , other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

Fosters positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Leads continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing food safety and sanitation practices, leveraging data and feedback to drive improvements.

Takes on food safety-related projects as project lead , ensuring successful planning, execution, and completion of these initiatives.
What kind of knowledge and experience do you bring with you?
BSc education in life science/ chemistry/ microbiology/ pharmacy/ food technology Proven knowledge of and leadership experience with quality assurance system 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Industry.
