Astrazeneca zoekt een

Visual Inspection Technician

Nijmegen, Netherlands

Before an investigational medicine reaches a patient in a clinical trial, it passes through your hands.  The vials you inspect today maybe among the first doses a patient ever receives of a new medicine.

Visual Inspection Technician

Nijmegen

Fulltime

Start off as day shift but will soon go over to the two shifts: 7.30-15.30 and 13.30 -22.00

Weekdays only – no weekend shifts

Introduction

We are growing fast and need steady, careful hands to keep up.

As a Visual Inspection Technician, you perform the final visual inspection of sterile medicine vials before they leave our site. You carefully examine every vial for visible defects, ensuring it meets GMP requirements before it is shipped to hospitals and clinical research centres where it will be used in clinical trials. Your precision helps prepare medicines for use in studies.

You will join a supportive team where colleagues work closely together and help one another. Each day starts with a short team meeting to discuss the planning and divide the work. As our production continues to grow, we are looking for new colleagues to strengthen the team.

What will you be doing?

Your day consists of focus and variety - inspections is key, alongside labelling, packing, and documentation.

Your work includes:

  • Carefully inspecting sterile medicine vials by hand for scratches, cracks, particles and other visible defects before they are released for clinical use.

  • Operating a semi-automatic visual inspection machine.

  • Supporting clinical labelling and packaging activities.

  • Packing approved medicine vials for shipment to hospitals and clinical research centres participating in clinical trials.

  • Cleaning equipment and your work area according to GMP and hygiene procedures.

  • Completing production documentation so every batch can be fully traced throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Following GMP, safety and hygiene procedures at all times.

  • Working together with your colleagues to ensure every product meets the required manufacturing standards.

Who are you?

You enjoy work that requires accuracy, concentration and attention to detail. You are comfortable following clear procedures and understand the importance of working carefully in a pharmaceutical production environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a vocational education (MBO level) or equivalent practical working experience.

  • Has experience in a role where accuracy, concentration and following procedures were an important part of the work.

  • Enjoys routine work and can stay focused during repetitive tasks.

  • Works carefully and has a strong eye for detail.

  • Has good written and spoken English skills. Dutch is a plus, not a must

  • Has good visual acuity and can accurately distinguish colours.

  • A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required for this position – we will guide you through applying.

Experience in a GMP environment is an advantage, but not essential. We provide a structured training programme to help you become fully qualified for the role.

As part of the recruitment process, you will complete a short vision test to assess your visual acuity and colour vision. This is an essential requirement for performing the visual inspection activities safely and accurately.

What do we offer?

  • A structured role with a combination of visual inspection, labelling, packing and documentation activities.

  • A supportive team where colleagues share knowledge and continuously improve the way they work.

  • Opportunities for learning, development and internal career growth.

  • An excellent benefits package including 27 vacation days, the option to buy 10 additional days, one volunteer day, an annual sports allowance of €230, 8% holiday allowance and a 9% target bonus.

  • An initial one-year contract with the intention of offering a permanent contract.
