HSE Coordinator

The HSE coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a sustainable HSE policy for Enkhuizen site. He/she is a sparring partner and pro-active advisor for site leadership in all HSE matters. You will provide reports using appropriate performance indicators and management review processes and ensuring that necessary actions are implemented and followed up. You interact on a daily basis with all Enkhuizen employees to ensure their full support and understanding and carry out our HSE programs, goals and objectives. You drive continuous improvement of HSE performance on-site by reducing or eliminating recordable incidents. This helps avoiding fines and reputational issues related to non-compliance with legal requirements while enhancing the safety culture.

In this role, you will be working closely together with the Enkhuizen HSE Assistant and HSE Benelux team to initiate, execute and accomplish objectives articulated in the HSE roadmap for the region. You will be reporting to the Unit Lead End-to-End. This is a full-time, on-site position, requiring daily presence at the Enkhuizen site.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow-up Bayer Benelux requirements as well as local legal requirements in HSE matters. Implement policies, directives, procedures, guidelines, trainings and other supporting materials that will ensure compliance with both company & legal requirements.
  • Organize and coordinate HSE activities, meetings, trainings etc., at the site to ensure support for and understanding of HSE programs & procedures.
  • Roll-out the actions defined for the business/function master plan to all sites.
  • Leading the coordination and improvement of the hazard recognition and observations/coaching process at the site.
  • Perform internal audits, document results and follow-up on action plans.
  • Monitor country legal requirements.
  • Stimulate reporting of safety observations, near misses and first aids. Conduct incident investigations in a qualitative manner.
  • Share relevant incidents with all relevant stakeholders and record incidents.
  • Periodically report progress to the site leadership, using appropriate performance indicators and management review processes.
  • Interact with site supervisors and employees to get their full support and understanding of our programs, goals and objectives.
  • Network with the other sites in the Netherlands to seek the best practices available.
  • Participate in regional networks and contribute to regional or sub-regional projects.
  • Be a solution provider and be able to recognize gaps in early stage to take the proper preventive action.
  • Is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving ISO45001 Occupational health and safety management system.
  • Leading in governing and improving the mental well-being of all employees on-site.

Your key stakeholders include Site leadership, HSE EMEA Head, regional HSE coordinators, HSE experts, HSE EMEA generalists, HSE Country lead. Your external relations include auditors, HSE material vendors, HSE training / communication companies, external stakeholders and authorities.

WHO YOU ARE

  • At least 5 years of experience as HSE Coordinator or Supervisor, preferably in a dynamic and complex regulatory (production) environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety/Health and knowledge of legal requirements (country law) (‘Middelbare Veiligheidskunde’) is required. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Agronomy, Electrical) (‘Hogere Veiligheidskunde’), is preferred.
  • Fluency in both Dutch (native) and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills, is essential.
  • Certified Management Systems knowledge (ISO/OHSAS) is desirable.
  • Excellent networking, communication and motivational abilities, with a focus on tactical thinking, agility, and the ability to lead by influencing others while maintaining a results-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in conducting audits and delivering training programs.
