THE OPPORTUNITY

As Head of Commercial Excellence Netherlands, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our Animal Health business in the Netherlands performs and grows. You will lead the transformation of our commercial organization by building best-in-class capabilities, embedding data-driven decision making, and continuously improving how we engage with our customers across channels.

In this role, you will lead a team of experts across key commercial capabilities, driving consistent execution, process optimization, and measurable business impact. Acting as a strategic partner to the commercial leadership team, you will champion execution excellence, customer-centricity, and impactful change—ensuring that the right tools, processes, and ways of working are firmly embedded across the organization.

You will work closely with regional counterparts to align on global standards while tailoring solutions to the local market. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will help elevate Commercial Excellence to the next level—enhancing performance, simplifying operations, and enabling the organization to deliver sustainable growth and superior customer experiences.

 

This position is based in Amsterdam and reports directly to the Head of Animal Health (Netherlands).

 

HOW YOU’LL FIT IN:

  • Shape and drive the Commercial Excellence strategy for the Dutch Operating Unit (OPU), ensuring the right capabilities, tools, and processes are in place to support growth and performance (while ensuring alignment with business priorities and regional (MIDI) counterparts).
  • Lead annual commercial planning and execution cycles, including customer segmentation, targeting, and performance tracking, to ensure focused and effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Optimize sales effectiveness, implementing best practices for territory design, customer engagement, and performance management to maximize impact in the field (including KPI tracking and insights generation).
  • Own and enhance commercial systems and data ecosystems, including Veeva, CRM and data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Rapsody), ensuring strong data governance, integration, and actionable customer insights.
  • Manage pricing, contracts, and rebate processes, ensuring accurate and timely execution, full compliance, and continuous simplification of commercial policies.
  • Enable data-driven and customer-focused ways of working, helping teams turn insights into action and strengthening how we engage with customers across channels.

 

YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or similar. Post graduate qualification such as MBA or similar is preferred.
  • Experience in animal health/veterinary science is desirable.
  • At least 5 years of experience in diverse Commercial Excellence roles and in Channel Execution.
  • At least 2 years of experience in People Management and talent development.
  • Strong communication skills in the English language. Fluency in the Dutch language is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment and stakeholder buy-in across a complex, matrixed and cross-functional environment.
  • Proven expertise in project, process and change management, including leading cross-functional teams, developing business cases, and delivering large-scale initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Solid commercial and analytical acumen, with experience in financial modeling, rebate/commercial policy management, CRM and customer experience capabilities, and a strong understanding of business processes and IT systems.
  • Excellent communication and results orientation, combining strong stakeholder engagement, listening and interviewing skills with the ability to work independently and consistently deliver impactful outcomes.
