Job description

As Director Marketing Communications at Cerba Research, you will be responsible for leading and directing team marketing operations to drive business growth and increase brand visibility globally. You will play a critical role in directing the delivery, management and reporting of marketing communications campaigns.


Your responsibilities will be:


  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing operations aligned with Cerba Research's business objectives and market dynamics. Lead the planning process, setting clear goals, priorities, and KPIs to guide the marketing team's efforts and drive measurable impact.
  2. Team Management and Development: Provide leadership and direction to the marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence, to drive high performance. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to maximize their potential and contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational goals.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including business development, scientific teams, and executive leadership, to ensure alignment and integration of marketing communications efforts with broader business strategies and initiatives.
  4. Tactical Campaign Execution: Direct the execution of tactical marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, email, conferences/events, and traditional media. Ensure that campaigns are effectively targeted, executed, and measured to drive maximum ROI and impact.
  5. Brand Management: Oversee and management of Cerba Research's brand identity, ensuring consistency, relevance, and differentiation across all touchpoints and channels. Drive brand awareness, equity, and loyalty through strategic brand-building initiatives and campaigns internally and externally.
  6. Support Delivery of Communications Plans: Utilize your expertise in aspects of external communications, including PR, thought leadership and service launch programmes.
  7. Market Research and Customer Insights: Oversee market research initiatives to gather customer and market insights that inform decision-making and drive business growth. Ensuring appropriate communication to internal stakeholders on opportunities, trends, and challenges in the industry.
  8. Digital Marketing Excellence: Direct digital marketing and tools to optimize online presence, engagement, and lead generation. Oversee the implementation of digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and content marketing, to drive business results.
  9. Website Management: Oversight and lead in the development and optimization of Cerba Research's website to ensure a compelling user experience, robust functionality, and alignment with brand objectives. Drive continuous improvement based on user feedback, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  10. Performance Tracking and Reporting: Establish metrics and KPIs to track the performance of marketing communications initiatives. Monitor and analyze results, derive actionable insights, and make data-driven recommendations to optimize strategies and tactics.
  11. Budget Management: Manage marketing assigned budgets effectively, allocating resources internally and to agencies as appropriate to deliver high-impact initiatives and optimizing spend to achieve desired outcomes. Monitor expenses, track performance against budgetary targets, and provide regular financial reporting to Head of Marketing & Communications.
  12. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly business development.
  13. Continuous Learning and Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in marketing communications. Take initiative to enhance your skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities, training programs, and networking activities.

Job requirements

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Advanced degree such as MBA is a plus.
  • Chartered Marketer designation or equivalent professional qualification. Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or equivalent.
  • Very experienced in digital marketing, website management, including SEO and user experience optimization.
  • Experience in remotely managing small to mid-sized globally distributed team - 5-10 people.
  • Experience in managing external agencies to achieve maximum results within budgets.
  • Experience in managing significant marketing communications budgets.
  • Experience in Life Science or Professional Services industry with Business to Business essential.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Salesforce and marketing automation platforms including Pardot.
  • Excellent formal presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • You are a native English speaker
