Purpose of the function

The Medical Advisor Breast Cancer (MA) is a new, nation-wide role with the primary responsibility of preparing and contributing to successful launches in the field of Breast Cancer in The Netherlands. The MA demonstrates mastery and innovation in the ability to develop ongoing professional relationships with national and regional healthcare key experts. The MA has the capacity to initiate and drive medical initiatives as well as provide medical and scientific support for Daiichi Sankyo company initiatives in the therapeutic area of Breast Cancer. The Medical Advisor Breast Cancer reports into the Medical Manager Oncology NL.

Roles and Responsibilities

•    Liaises with key experts and medical centers to enhance cooperation with Daiichi Sankyo within the field of breast cancer. Develops, aligns and executes Medical Plan and tactics in close collaboration with the Medical Manager Oncology Collaborates closely with Market Access as medical point of contact for activities related to dossier submissions Identifies and maps qualified key experts and scientific networks on an international, national and regional level based on pre-defined segmentation and profiling criteri Builds rapport and maintains peer to peer relationships with key influencers at major academic institutions, hospitals and scientific societies Supports speakers and key experts in preparing and delivering presentations and scientific contributions upon request, e.g. accompany to international and national congresses and scientific events. Ensures medical value messages on the products/areas of therapeutic interest are conveyed and advocacy for Daiichi Sankyo contributions to medical practice (products, studies and services) is developed Enhances company reputation in terms of medical and scientific expertise by engaging and cooperating with key experts and key influencers on a scientific expert level Reactively answer key experts and clinicians in a balanced manner on questions related to product use (both in and off-label) to better serve patient needs and always in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulation Is primary medical point of contact for any unsolicited activities related to early access and/or compassionate use
•    Develops and implements medical education programs across the scientific community within the field of breast cancer Identifies topics of interest among the scientific community by capturing customer insights and needs and effectively engages with collaborative clinical groups to define medical programs and activities where appropriate Develops supporting content for medical educational programs Conducts scientific education programs in line with corporate requirements and ensure the validity of the scientific content Effectively communicates expert opinion on scientific, medical and regulatory information through Ad boards or seminars and develops strong scientific relationships by ensuring integrity and accuracy of data Has the ability to use digital technologies and new media to support pro-active and reactive communication
•    Supports the development and implementation of clinical trials and registries within the field of breast cancer Brings local support to clinical studies and registries management by providing scientific consulting services to trial investigators Contributes to Medical Affairs clinical trial activities such as conducting SIVs together with CRA and Site Engagement Manager in close collaboration with HQ and CRO, Proposes investigators and sites for interventional and non-interventional clinical studies

Further Roles and Responsibilities

•    Improves Daiichi Sankyo’s capabilities by enabling effective decision-making in terms of clinical knowledge, customer engagement, brand performance and gathering competitive intelligence within the field of breast cancer Takes personal ownership for maintaining an expert understanding of all relevant clinical information for Daiichi Sankyo brands, competitors, and therapeutic areas Acts proactively to understand competitor activities, strategies, regional tactics, plans, programs and makes full use all company information systems and business tools to ensure competitive intelligence is disseminated broadly within the organisation Effectively leverages insights on competitor behaviour to anticipate future industry trends and opportunities/threats for Daiichi Sankyo products/brands Leads the internal medical breast cancer training of the team
•    Conducts all activities in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and regulations Respects the rules governing relationships with Health Care Providers Declares immediately any adverse event or quality complaint to the responsible person for pharmacovigilance or quality control in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and regulations Conducts all activities and engagements in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and compliance regulations Ensures compliance requirements are factored into scientific activities and programs

Education & Experience

•    University Master’s degree in (Bio)Medical Sciences
•    Advanced degree in (breast) oncology such as PhD or PharmD is highly preferred
•    Residency or additional post-doctorate experience in (breast) oncology is highly preferred
•    Strong experience in Medical Affairs and (breast) oncology
•    Previous experience as MSL, Medical Advisor or other roles in Medical Affairs and/or R&D is preferred
•    Fluent in both Dutch and English in written as well as spoken communications
•    Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic
•    Positive and pro-active attitude, hands-on mentality
•    Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently
•    Ability to work in a cross-functional and alliance team
•    Willingness and ability to travel nationally / internationally as required
•    Knowledge of and experience in clinical study management and conduct
•    Advanced communication as well as presentation skills and facilitating discussions with small and large groups in an engaging manner
•    Outgoing and creative with a desire to be active in the field
•    Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical business
•    Skilful with Office programs
