Pricing Capabilities Development Analyst (SPO) - Johnson & Johnson MedTech EMEA

Are you ready to elevate your career in the dynamic world of MedTech? We are seeking an analytical, data-driven Pricing capabilities development Analyst ( SPO ) to lead efforts in refining our digital pricing strategies across the region. This role is pivotal in advancing our Smart CPQ (configure, price, quote) capabilities, focusing on data-driven insights, model enhancements, and optimization of our pricing solutions. You'll be at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge Smart CPQ (configure, price, quote) and price optimisation capabilities across the EMEA region.

In this exciting role, you will collaborate with the EMEA Operational Pricing Lead, local pricing subject matter experts (SMEs), global pricing, finance as well as the wider project team to enhance and deliver across the region our digital pricing capability, Smart Price Optimisation (SPO), the engine which drives pricing recommendations within our Smart CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) capability. As an integral part of the EMEA Pricing & Tender Centre of Excellence in MedTech, your expertise will be crucial for ensuring the enhancement of the pricing optimisation model and deal scoring capabilities of CPQ, within a consistent regional template.

In this strategic position, you will work alongside the EMEA Operational Pricing Lead, local pricing SMEs, and cross-functional teams to continually enhance our CPQ platform. Your contributions will directly influence how we deliver pricing recommendations, measure deal health, and embed analytical insights into our pricing practices to unlock new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refine & Optimize the SPO Model: Collaborate with stakeholders to improve the smart price optimisation (SPO) model, ensuring accurate and impactful pricing recommendations calculated in SPO and available within CPQ.

  • Enhance & Align Deal Scoring Logic: Drive the development, refinement, and alignment of scoring parameters used in CPQ to better assess deal health. Leverage your analytical competencies to introduce new scoring attributes and improve the overall accuracy and consistency across deal evaluations.

  • Measure & Improve Pricing Performance: Track the effectiveness of pricing strategies by analysing the recommendations made by SPO and the deal scores generated. Use these insights to further optimize the recommendation engine and quantify business impact and opportunities.

  • Deliver Insights & Analytics: Drive actionable analytics based on CPQ pricing data, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks. Work to embed these insights within the pricing scorecard and broader business strategies to support decision-making.

  • Deployment & Adoption Support: Lead local market deployments of SPO and pricing model updates, ensuring data quality, user acceptance, and effective training. Work with local teams and data teams and other stakeholders to enrich data quality inputs to maximise the quality of the model recommendations.

  • System Feature Development: Collaborate with SMEs to shape future enhancements to CPQ and SPO, driven by analytics and model performance insights. Partner with local teams, data and tech teams to deliver against local requirements in line with the regional template.

  • Continuous Improvement & Alignment: Take ownership of refining deal scoring models, ensuring alignment across regions and consistency in deal assessment. Use analytical techniques to recommend improvements and monitor the effectiveness of scoring enhancements.

  • Post-Implementation Support: Provide ongoing support during and after rollouts, focusing on data quality, model refinement, and increasing adoption based on insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, data science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pricing, analytics, or related commercial roles, with strong analytical competencies and experience applying data-driven decision-making.

  • Proven expertise in developing, refining, and aligning deal scoring models and parameters in complex sales environments.

  • Deep understanding of pricing models, scoring logic, and tools for measuring deal health and pricing effectiveness.

  • Experience with CPQ, price optimisation solutions and the modelling of pricing deals is a plus.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA and JDE is advantageous.

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear insights, recommendations, and strategic actions.

  • Project experience: the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage concurring tasks efficiently.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Job Description

The Revenue & Margin Assurance Pricing Manager , will be responsible for driving execution of regional pricing & commercial strategies focused on profitable growth to meet financial commitments for MedTech in Europe, Middle East & Affrica (EMEA). The incumbent will be responsible in liaising with key cross-functional partners on a global, regional, and local level to ensure alignment on business planning, commercial readiness, tactical execution and will oversee critical strategic projects that fuel profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pricing & Commercial Execution: Oversee the profit acceleration initiative, focusing on pricing, product mix, service programs, and addressing revenue leakage. Monitor adherence to profit strategies, providing structured analyses and action plans to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Pricing Business Planning: Lead pricing and profit planning and revisions for all business units, establishing processes for insight collection and providing guidance on account segmentation and planning. Identify upside and risk opportunities to inform business planning.
  • Price Optimization & Process Management: Drive the end-to-end price optimization process, including monitoring market dynamics, competitor pricing, and customer insights to identify opportunities for maximizing revenue and margins. Manage and oversee the entire pricing lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards at each stage.
  • Price Compliance & Governance: Ensure strict adherence to internal policies, external regulations, and company standards related to pricing. Implement governance frameworks to oversee pricing activities, review price changes for compliance, and mitigate risks associated with pricing practices.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate quarterly country reviews and commercial councils, ensuring timely resolution of action items. Act as the primary liaison for profit initiatives across various stakeholders, including regional and local Finance, Strat Caps Leaders, and Business leaders.
  • Pricing Analytics & Insights: Develop and leverage advanced analytic tools to analyze pricing, revenue, and margin data. Provide insights and actionable recommendations based on comprehensive analysis to support strategic decision-making and improve profitability.
  • Project Management: Manage critical strategic projects linked to the overall MedTech strategy, leading complex initiatives with significant business impact. Create communication materials and stakeholder engagement plans to align with senior leadership.
  • Training & Development: Elevate business acumen within the organization by collaborating with Education Solutions to provide training on pricing, business, and selling capabilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills (5-8 years’ experience) with proficiency in advanced analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Solid experience in marketing, sales and pricing (2-4 years’ experience) ideally in Medical Devices, with proven track record in change management.
  • Experience in driving profit initiatives such as pricing optimization, customer segmentation, portfolio & customer mix and revenue assurance
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Data science or related field; master’s degree or MBA preferred
  • Understanding of healthcare market dynamics and hospital landscape
  • Proven ability to understand business strategy; translating strategy into operational activities and drive execution.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives. Ability to navigate complex matrix organizations.
