We are seeking a highly accomplished and results-oriented Senior Manager to lead our Life Cycle Management team in the Site MSAT Leiden department. The successful candidate will be a proven leader with extensive experience in large molecule drug substance manufacturing and a deep understanding of technical operations within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of Senior Associate Scientists and Scientists, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development.
- Effectively delegate tasks and provide clear direction to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
- Promote a culture of scientific excellence and innovation within the team.
- Life Cycle Management Leadership:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process for commercial products at the site. This includes ownership of the technical aspects of LCM, Continued Process Verification (CPV), leading secondary tech transfers and driving process improvements.
- Monitor technical process and product performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Develop and implement strategies to significantly increase performance, reliability and robustness.
- Support technology and product technical life cycle management by deployment of standards on site.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of scientific data and findings to key stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with local and global stakeholders, including project teams, site and global Leadership teams, ensuring seamless integration and communication of scientific findings.
- Represent the MSAT LM DS Lab at internal and external meetings, effectively communicating scientific data and insights.
Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on large molecule drug substance development.
- Proven track record of leading and mentoring scientific teams.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in biologics manufacturing processes, including upstream and downstream processing.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
- Experience with CPV, process improvements, and technology transfer processes.
- Communication & Leadership:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire others, creating a positive and productive work environment.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex scientific and technical challenges independently and within a team setting.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate data and draw sound conclusions.
